This is a great resort for active vacations, with a range of water sports, zip lining, golf, tennis, and explorations further afield. 2. Four Seasons Golden Triangle: 3rd Night Free

The Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle is in Chiang Rai, northern Thailand, near the border with Laos and Myanmar, and there are just 15 tents. It's the perfect destination for an adventurous couple or family with older kids (children under 10 are not allowed, and children 10 and older are charged as adults for this all-inclusive luxury glamping experience). The highlight is meeting and riding the elephants, who have been rescued from poor living conditions; each has his or her own personality. Some of the elephants are shared with the Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp and Resort, which we stayed at. My son's young elephant was a perfect match for him: happy, and wanting to stop often for a snack, just like him. My elephant had a sense of humor, in the photos she is positively laughing while dousing me with water! An incredible experience.

For anyone who doesn't want to be in crowded Waikiki and wants a more resort-like experience on Oahu, Ko Olina is an excellent option, while still giving you easy access to all the sights and dining options that Oahu has to offer. Ko Olina is only about a 25 minute drive from the airport and from Pearl Harbor, and about a 45 minute-1 hour drive from Haleiwa and North Shore beaches.

We loved our stay at Four Seasons Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru. Clients have particularly enjoyed the “Manta on Call” experience where you're given a phone and called only when manta rays are spotted, then whisked out on a speedboat to snorkel with the manta rays. The resort is near the Unesco Biosphere Reserve of Baa Atoll, so great snorkeling and diving opportunities abound.
