Where to Eat in Burlington, Vermont

Where to Eat in Burlington, Vermont

.

Burlington, Vermont is the smallest biggest city of any state (it's the biggest city in Vermont, and no other U.S. state's biggest city has fewer people), but it punches above its weight given its small size of fewer than 45,000 people.

1. Gold Restaurant

This unassuming restaurant in Burlington's Old North End neighborhood ended up being our favorite place for dinner. Highlights included fresh focaccia, crispy brussels sprouts, and seared steel head trout.

Breakfast and brunch lovers, don't sleep on Deep City Brunch & Events, located off of Lake Street by Lake Champlain. Highlights: chile rellano with salsa, smoked salmon over a buckwheat pancake, and gingerbread pancake with Vermont maple syrup.

4. Pizzeria Verita

Craving pizza? Look no further than Pizzeria Verita, on Burlington's St. Paul Street for lovely tricolor beet and avocado salad and Neapolitan pizzas. We particularly enjoyed the Salsiccia e Fungi with mushrooms, house-made Vermont sausage, and Fior di Latte and Grana Padano cheeses, and Bianca with Fior di Latte, Pecorino Romano, prosciutto, and arugula.

5. Honey Road

Honey Road was good, although on the pricier side and not as good value or as high quality as Gold Restaurant. We enjoyed the Za'atar Fried Chicken with Basil Labne and Urfa Brown Butter and the Potato Latkes, as well as various mezze dips.

6. Shy Guy Gelato

Shy Guy Gelato is a superb small-batch gelateria in Burlington, which we visited multiple times over our stay. Just keep in mind that it's unfortunately only open Fridays-Sundays in fall to winter, and Thursdays-Sundays in summer.
