The Thompson Rome will open October 1, 2026 as the first Thompson hotel in Italy and the second Thompson hotel in Europe, after the Thompson Madrid, and is now accepting reservations.

Thompson Rome Location
The Thompson Rome will be located at Via delle Botteghe Oscure, 4, a 7 minute walk from Capitoline Hill, an 8 minute walk from the Roman Forum, a 12 minute walk from the Trevi Fountain, and a 17 minute walk from the Colosseum. Rome Fiumicino airport (FCO) is a 25-55 minute drive, depending on traffic.

Thompson Rome Amenities
Housed in a historic 1930s palazzo that was formerly the headquarters of the Italian Communist Party, the building will undergo an extensive renovation while preserving this piece of Italian history. Architectural features that will be preserved include the Giò Pomodoro-designed entrance hall, with a five-pointed gold star set into the floor, as well as a marble bust of the Italian Communist Party’s founding member and one-time leader, Antonio Gramsci.
There will be 70 rooms and suites, starting with the entry-level King Bed Room (247-290 sq. ft.), followed by a King Bed High Floor Room on the 4th or 5th floor; then a King Bed with Balcony Room (258-279 sq. ft., overlooking Via delle Botteghe Oscure); then a King Bed with City View Room (258-322 sq. ft., with rooftop views), and finally a King Bed Deluxe (312-387 sq. ft.).

Junior Suites are 409-527 sq. ft., with the next category a Junior Suite with Terrace, followed by a King Bed Suite (398-462 sq. ft.) with a separate living area, King Suite with Terrace, and the hotel's top suite, the Thompson Suite (1119 sq. ft.), on the 6th floor, with views of the iconic Altare della Patria. This penthouse offers a luxurious living room, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a traditional Roman terrace, equipped with sunbeds, a small pool, sofas, tables, and chairs.

There will be an Italian-Mediterranean restaurant on the sixth floor, as well as the Rooftop Terrace with a cocktail bar on the 7th floor, that enjoys panoramic city views. There will also be a fitness center.
