The Rocco Forte Hotel de la Ville Rome opened in 2019, after an extensive renovation that also reduced the prior hotel's rooms to just over 100 rooms and suites. It's Rocco Forte's second hotel in the Eternal City, after Hotel de la Russie.

Hotel de la Ville Rome Location
Hotel de la Ville, set in an 18th century Roman palazzo, is centrally located at Via Sistina 69, just a 3 minute walk from The Spanish Steps, a 9 minute walk from the Trevi Fountain, a 20 minute walk from the Roman Forum, and a 25 minute walk from the Colosseum. Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO) is about a 35 minute to 1 hour drive, depending on traffic, while Roma Termini train station is a 10-20 minute drive.

Deluxe Panoramic View Room
We were in a Deluxe Panoramic View Room, which we highly recommend. Throughout the hotel and rooms the decor mixes the classical and contemporary. The room entrance was a perfect example, with its Roman bust, but also splashes of color from the bedroom's fresh flowers and artwork visible.

These rooms are 376 sq. ft. (35 sq. m.), with southern exposure providing great natural light in the afternoons and early evenings.

The marble bathroom has a frosted glass window that also provides welcome natural light. While there was just one sink and no separate toilet chamber, it was one of the more beautiful white marble bathrooms of its size that we've seen recently.

The Verdict
We enjoyed an excellent stay at the Rocco Forte Hotel de la Ville Rome. While our small boutique hotel recommendation is the Portrait Roma, for guests who prefer a full service hotel, with an in-house restaurant for dinner and complete spa and fitness facilities, the Hotel de la Ville is currently our top pick in Rome.
