Cheval Blanc Pitrizza, Sardinia to Open in 2027

Cheval Blanc Pitrizza will open in 2027 as Cheval Blanc's fourth hotel in Europe, after Cheval Blanc Paris, Cheval Blanc St. Tropez and Cheval Blanc Courchevel, and its seventh overall given Cheval Blanc Randheli in the Maldives, Cheval Blanc St. Barths, and Cheval Blanc Seychelles.

Hotel Pitrizza, currently a Luxury Collection hotel, will continue to operate under Luxury Collection while being renovated. With just 65 rooms, suites, and villas (the 16 villas will have private pools), it will be an exclusive and private retreat. There will also be two restaurants and a Guerlain Spa.

Hotel Pitrizza, designed in 1963 by Italian architect Luigi Vietti, already enjoys high marks for its views and natural beauty, and its cuisine is also reviewed well, but Cheval Blanc guests will expect a higher caliber of service than the hotel is currently known for.

LVMH's other Sardinia property is Romazzino, a Belmond Hotel, Belmond's 8th hotel in Italy, adding to its locations in Tuscany, Florence, Venice, Portofino, the Amalfi Coast, and two in Taormina, Sicily. The Romazzino is located at Via Romazzino, 4 on one of the loveliest white sand beaches in Costa Smeralda, about a 30 minute drive from Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport (OLB), served by flights from London, Milan, Rome and seasonal flights from Paris, Madrid, Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna, and many other European cities.

The hotel, which has 100 rooms and suites as well as private villas, offers both saltwater and a fresh water swimming pools, in addition to its beautiful white sand beach, which is swimmable. Activities include an outdoor fitness center with a view of the sea, Spa, yoga room, golf putting green, tennis, and water sports, including kayaking, sailing, and snorkeling.

The resort was reflagged as a Belmond even before completing its renovation, which is ongoing throughout 2026 (we've advised our clients to wait to visit until the renovation is complete; for those who can't wait, it's imperative to get a renovated room or suite). Something to keep in mind is that the service here, as of time of writing, isn't as polished as at other top Italian luxury hotels. It remains to be seen if Belmond will be able to bring the requisite training and polish to the service experience that most of our clients expect at this price point.
