Mandarin Oriental Rome will open in 2026 as the fifth Mandarin Oriental in Italy, after the current Mandarin Oriental Milan and Mandarin Oriental Lake Como, as well as the forthcoming Mandarin Oriental Cristallo Cortina in 2025 (opening ahead of the Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics) and the Mandarin Oriental Porto Cervo in Sardinia, slated to open in 2026. Mandarin Oriental's Rome hotel will join Rome luxury hotels such as the new Six Senses Rome, the Corinthia Rome, slated to open at the end of 2024, and the Four Seasons Rome, Baccarat Hotel Rome, and Rosewood Rome opening in 2025.

Mandarin Oriental Rome Location

The hotel will be housed within ten 19th-century villas (the Villini Sallustiani), located between via Sallustiana, via Boncompagni, via Piemonte and via Quintino Sella, purchased for 100 million EUR back in 2021, which will become the new hotel. It's about a 15 minute walk to the Trevi Fountain, a 17 minute walk to the Spanish Steps, a half hour's walk to the Roman Forum and Colosseum, and a 45 minute-1 hour 15 minute drive (depending on traffic) to Rome Airport (FCO).

The hotel, with its interior designed by Gilles & Boissier (whose other hotel work includes the Mandarin Oriental Ritz Madrid, Mandarin Oriental Marrakech, and the Baccarat Hotel New York) will have 108 rooms and suites, many with private gardens and terraces. Interior design will be overseen by The setting will be in landscaped gardens, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, six restaurants and bars, including a rooftop Mandarin Bar, and a spa with six treatment rooms and a sundeck.
