Cathay Pacific First Class Returns

Cathay Pacific First Class Returns

.

Cathay Pacific First Class is Returning to the skies as of December 6, 2022, on the airline's flights between Hong Kong and London LHR, operated by the 777-300ER. Here are the schedules:

  • CX252: Departs LHR 11:15am, Arrives HKG 7:40am the next day
  • CX251: Departs HKG 10:20pm, Arrives LHR 5am the next day

Cathay Pacific First Class is now a decidedly older product, as an open suite, whereas Singapore Suites on the A380 and Emirates Suites on the 777-300ER feature much greater privacy, and even Lufthansa's New First Class Suites will have nearly floor to ceiling suite doors. That said, in the past we've greatly enjoyed Cathay Pacific First Class thanks to the small cabin of just six seats; the left hand side seats 1A and 2A are particularly private, as the aisle only serves those seats, whereas 1D, 1K, 2D and 2K are all entered from the same aisle.

Expect to pay nearly $12,000 or more roundtrip for these flights, since at time of writing, partner award space isn't being released. It's actually less expensive to book a paid roundtrip from London via Hong Kong to Sydney (with the Hong Kong to Sydney flights in Cathay Pacific Business Class) for ~$9300.

Alternatively, for those who want to reserve Cathay's first class hard product with points, it's possible to reserve Qatar First Class that uses Cathay's 777-300ER aircraft, on flights between Doha and Male, Maldives. For this nearly 5 hour flight, AAdvantage charges 40,000 miles, while British Airways Executive Club charges 52,500 Avios, although if you took advantage of the 30% Chase Transfer Bonus to British Airways, that equates to 41,000 Ultimate Rewards points.

Which other Cathay Pacific First Class routes do you hope to see return?
