Analysis: If you have to buy an Air France/KLM flight that departs the U.S., within the offer timeframe, this is a great offer, since 20K AMEX Membership Rewards points are worth ~$400 at a valuation of 2 cents per AMEX Membership Rewards point. And ideally you're not redeeming AMEX Membership Rewards points at a valuation of less than 2 cents per point–if you are, you're probably better off with a cash back card.
Air France may not be the top choice for U.S. flyers (hence the offer, to try to generate more business) but Air France Business Class is particularly useful for flights from LAX to Papeete, French Polynesia. September is still a good time weather-wise to go to French Polynesia and Bora Bora, and early October, while on average rainier than the preceding 3 months, is still about as good as June. My top picks in French Polynesia: The Brando and Four Seasons Bora Bora.
