Amanvari Will be Aman's New Resort in Los Cabos, Mexico, and Will Open in 2020. Interestingly, it will also be part of the 1000 acre Costa Palmas estate where the Four Seasons Los Cabos at Costa Palmas will open in 2019 (pushed back from its original 2018 opening; see Top 10 New Hotel Openings in 2018). Aman's parcel will be the furthest west, in a remote part of the East Cape that is dotted by local farms, fishing villages, and ranches.
The name, Amanvari, derives from the Sanskrit words for “peace” and “water,” fitting for a resort that will enjoy stunning views over the Sea of Cortez, with a beautiful stretch of white sand beach, as well as views of the Sierra de la Laguna mountain range.
Amanvari Resort will offer 20 stand alone pavilions, designed by architects Heah & Co, each of them with an upper floor that includes the bedroom, living area and wrap around deck, and some with a cantilevered private pool to enjoy. The ground floor will provide additional indoor/outdoor lounge areas that blends into the surrounding landscape.
Amanvari's main pavilion, directly on the beach, will draw both resort guests and residents (24 Aman Residences will be offered for sale) with its three restaurants, library, lounge, and infinity pool encircled by four jacuzzis.
There's great snorkeling, diving and fishing in the area, so Amanvari will offer explorations with a resident marine biologist, diving with whales, fishing expeditions, and visits to local ranches and organic farms. And of course as at all Aman resorts, there will be a focus on wellness, from yoga and pilates to a full range of spa treatments.
Getting to Amanvari at Costa Palmas
Amanvari will be an easy 45 minute drive from Los Cabos Airport (SJD), which also offers a terminal for private jets, but a world away from the busy Cabo San Lucas resort area. From the U.S., there are nonstop flights from:
- Atlanta ATL (Delta)
- Dallas DFW (AA)
- Denver (United, Southwest)
- Houston IAH (United)
- Houston HOU (Southwest)
- Los Angeles LAX (AA, Alaska, Delta, Southwest)
- NYC EWR (United)
- Oakland (Southwest)
- Orange County SNA (Alaska, Southwest)
- Phoenix PHX (AA)
- Salt Lake City SLC (Delta)
- San Diego SAN (Alaska, Southwest)

It will be exciting to see a new Aman Resort in North America, where currently there's only Amangani in Wyoming and Amangiri in Utah, though it's intriguing that it will be within such close proximity to the new Four Seasons. Aman Tokyo of course is just a few minutes' walk from Four Seasons Tokyo, but none of Aman's other locations are quite so close to a Four Seasons resort, save, perhaps, Amandari to Four Seasons Sayan in Ubud, Bali.
