At last, Chase Sapphire Lounges are removing access by Priority Pass members, effective August 15, 2026. As Chase Sapphire Reserve cardholders, we've been annoyed for years at the wait for Sapphire Reserve to enter these lounges, for example the Chase Sapphire Lounge Boston.
.
New Chase Sapphire Lounge Access Rules
As of 8/15/26, Priority Pass members will be charged the standard $100 per person fee, which should sharply reduce the number of guests who only have Priority Pass card but don't hold a Sapphire Reserve card, a Sapphire Reserve for Business card, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve card, or a J.P. Morgan Reserve card.
Eligible Chase card holders enjoy complimentary Sapphire Lounge access, and can bring in up to two complimentary guests. Additional guests cost $27 per person (children age two and under are free).
Currently, through 8/14/26, Priority Pass members receive one complimentary annually, thereafter a discounted rate of $75 per member.
.
Restricting Sapphire Lounge Access to Eligible Chase Cardholders Improves Card Value
Sapphire Lounges at this point often have better food than AMEX Centurion Lounges, but crowding was becoming the same sore point that it was in Centurion Lounges. Even though Sapphire Reserve cardholders already had entry priority, ahead of Priority Pass members, significantly reducing crowding by eliminating Priority Pass-only entrants helps to both reduce wait times for Chase cardholders and reduce the crowding that makes the lounges less relaxing and pleasant. Plus, frequent travelers who have gotten used to using the Sapphire Lounges but only had Priority Pass may be incentivized to get a Sapphire Reserve or Sapphire Reserve for Business card.

Increased Access to 5 Hours During Layovers
Eligible cardholders will now be permitted to enter Sapphire Lounges within five hours prior to their connecting flight, increased from the current three hours. That matches current American Express policy for its Centurion Lounges.
