The Citi Prestige public offer is now 40K with $4000 minimum spend, more bad news on top of losing access to American Admirals Club lounges effective July 23, 2017, not to mention the following rumored changes:
- Points will only be able to be redeemed at 1.25 cents per point, including on American Airlines (not 1.6 cents per point)
- 4th night free will be an average of the 4 nights, and not include taxes
- No free rounds of golf (currently there are 3 rounds of golf at select golf courses)
There is currently at time of writing still a live 50K Citi Prestige offer that you can apply for with $3000 minimum spend, which I've updated on the Best Travel Credit Cards page (HT: Reddit). I wouldn't expect this to hang around long, so if you haven't applied for any cards for awhile, now would be a good time to apply for the 50K Citi Prestige with $3000 minimum spend before it goes away, as well as pick up another 1-2 cards, such as the 50K Sapphire Preferred (55K if you add an authorized user) or 60K Ink Plus or 50K Miles & More card if you don't yet have these cards or requalify for them again.
One can debate whether it's worth keeping the Citi Prestige beyond the first year (see Cancel the Citi Prestige or AMEX Platinum Card?) but it's hard to argue with making money off the card in the first year, thanks to the bonus and the two $250 airfare credits ($250 airfare credit per December to December billing cycle), even if you don't use any other card benefits.
