Qatar Business Class Meals Can Be Pre-Booked in Advance on Select Flights from Doha. Even if you're on a Qatar Business Class flight that doesn't offer Pre-Select Dining, I highly recommend that you select all your meals and food as soon as possible after receiving the in-flight menu, as I'll explain below.
Keep in mind that Qatar's pre-reserved meal system is NOT like Singapore Airlines' Book the Cook, which offers different meals than are available on the aircraft. Qatar's pre-booked meals are exactly the same as on the in-flight menu, there aren't even any online-only meal options as with EVA Air Business Class Meal Pre-Order.
Qatar offers its Meal Pre-Ordering 14 days to 24 hours in advance, and as mentioned above, only on select Business Class and First Class flights from Doha, not on flights to Doha from other destinations. To view the menu for your flight and pre-select a meal, go to the Manage Booking section of the Qatar Airways site, and log in using your booking reference number (PNR) and your last name.
You'll then be able to click on the right to select your meal; this section enables you to either select a special meal, such as dietary or religious meal, or to view the in-flight menu to pre-reserve one of the options, guaranteeing your choice. For my recent Doha to NYC flight, only the main dinner meal was able to be selected, not breakfast.
Order All Food As Soon As Possible Once On Board
We've had two long haul Qatar Qsuite Business Class flights recently between the U.S. and Doha, and on both flights the Business Class flight crew ran out of basic items such as milk, yogurt and bananas, several hours before the end of the flight. When I asked the purser about it, she was apologetic, and explained that the airline is focused on reducing food waste. That's an admirable goal, but perhaps even breakfast meal pre-order should be available then, so that sufficient quantities can be catered.
In the meantime, I highly recommend making ALL your meal and food selections as soon as possible, ideally providing a written list to make it easy for the crew to save the necessary items for you. Otherwise, you may wake up and find yourself having a very different meal than you hoped for.
