Guess the Luxury Hotel: Room with a View

Guess the Luxury Hotel: Room with a View

.

Can you guess this luxury hotel, where several rooms come with an incredible view? Opened in 2019 after a complete gut renovation of the prior hotel, this hotel is our top pick in the city for guests who want fresh, modern, well-equipped rooms in a fantastic central location.

Our room on the 6th floor enjoyed a welcoming foyer, replete with artwork and a glimpse of the fresh flowers in the bedroom.

On the subject of flowers, I understand that for so many luxury hotels these have been a casualty of cost-cutting. But seeing these blooms in the room brought me so much joy and made the room so much more elegant. This is also why hotels tend to stage their rooms with fresh flowers, and to be honest, if the hotel has flowers in the photos on the Web site but not in the actual rooms, it does make me feel cheated.

Fortunately that's not the case here, where in addition to the bouquet in the bedroom, there was a fresh flower in the beautiful marble bathroom:

The beautifully appointed room, bathroom, and fresh flowers were already wonderful, but what particularly makes this the room type to reserve (if not reserving a suite) is the private balcony with a view of the city. It's furnished with a loveseat, chairs and a table so that you can enjoy your morning coffee, evening aperitifs, or even a room service meal al fresco.

Of course, if money is no object, by all means reserve the incredible Penthouse, which enjoys two expansive terraces for lounging, dining and entertaining. Between the two of them, you have a 360 degree view of the city!

Even if your budget doesn't extend to the Penthouse, there are lovely views from the Rooftop Bar. Off-season, in the winter months, it's open 11am-5pm for meals and drinks, but from March through early fall it's open well into the evening.

An additional lovely spot is the hotel's internal courtyard, where guests can enjoy dining outside in warmer months. As it's now the winter, breakfast is served inside.

Breakfast was delightful, not only the well curated buffet of high quality local products, but particularly the restaurant team, who were uniformly warm and friendly. They quickly readied a comfortable banquette table that had been recently vacated, explained the buffet and the option to order various egg and other hot dishes, and brought me a fresh squeezed juice that I'd poured myself at the buffet but forgotten to bring back to my table. When I asked for an egg dish recommendation, the omelet the server recommended was excellent.

When I requested mint tea (probably unusual in this coffee-drinking country), they didn't just bring a tea bag, they infused the water with fresh mint.

Speaking of tea and herbs, the hotel has a lovely spa. In addition to treatment rooms, there's a thermal area with a sauna, steam room, plunge pool, and hydro pool. There are also individual shower rooms that are perfect places for guests who arrive early to refresh in (although since so many guests from the U.S. arrive after a red eye flight, we do recommend pre-booking the night prior to your stay so as to be able to go straight to your room and take a nap).
