Airline Flight Waivers, Middle East Crisis

It's been over a month since airstrikes in Iran disrupted the Middle East, including many flights through Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Doha. Here's a roundup of the current airline flight waivers for those needing to reschedule or refund their flights:

.

Emirates

  • Eligible Dates: Flight dates 2/28/26-4/30/26 if booked by 2/28/26
  • Rebooking: another flight to the same destination or to another destination in the same region; travel date must be on or before 6/15/26
  • Refund: May request a refund
  • New tickets booked starting from 4/2/26 are permitted one free flight change (change must be within the ticket validity, and any fare increase will apply)

Etihad

  • Eligible Dates: Flight dates 2/28/26-4/15/26 if booked by 2/28/26
  • Cancelled flights: rebooking permitted to a date on or before 6/15/26
  • Refund: May request a refund for both cancelled flights and unused flights for dates on/before 4/15/26. Partially used tickets may have the unused portion refunded.
  • New tickets booked on or after 3/6/26 for travel until 3/31/27, the first date change is free (subject to fare difference)

Qatar

  • Eligible Dates: Flight dates 2/28/26-6/15/26
  • Rebooking: another flight to the same destination, with a new travel date until 10/31/26
  • Refund of the unused ticket value; refunds can take up to 28 days to be processed

Other Airlines

British Airways

  • Eligible Dates: Flight dates 2/28/26-10/31/26, issued by 4/1/26
  • Eligible destinations: flights to or from Abu Dhabi, Amman, Bahrain, Doha, Dubai, Tel Aviv, and Riyadh
  • Refund: May cancel and receive a full refund, even if the flight is still scheduled to operate

Cathay Pacific

  • Eligible Dates: Flight dates 2/28/26-6/30/26, issued by 3/24/26
  • Eligible destinations: flights to or from Doha, Dubai, Riyadh
  • Rebooking: new ticket must be changed by 6/30/26, for travel dates on or before 8/31/26; fare is subject to any fare difference
  • Refund permitted

Lufthansa Group (Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, SWISS)

  • Eligible Dates: Flight dates 3/27/26-4/30/26, issued by 3/16/26
  • Eligible destinations: flights to or from Abu Dhabi, Amman, Beirut, Dammam, Dubai, Erbil, Tel Aviv
  • Refund: full refund permitted, although some taxes are non-refundable

United Airlines

  • Eligible Dates: Flight dates 2/28/26-9/7/26, issued by 2/28/26
  • Eligible destinations: flights to or from Dubai or Tel Aviv
  • Rebooking: reschedule your trip and United will waive change fees and fare differences. The new flight must be a United flight departing between 7 days prior and 7 days after your original travel date. Tickets must be in the same cabin and between the same cities as originally booked or to/from Athens (ATH)
