British Virgin Islands Reopens: Entry Requirements

British Virgin Islands Reopens: Entry Requirements

The British Virgin Islands Have Reopened to International Travelers flying to BVI. Entry requirements include multiple COVID-19 PCR tests, travel authorization, and a mandatory quarantine. Here are the details:

  • Start the application process for the required BVI travel authorization well in advance of your stay, since you must submit the details of your quarantine accommodations no later than 7 days before your arrival date. You will upload your passport and contact details, and will also need to show a reservation at an approved hotel for a stay of at least 5 nights, given that you'll be in quarantine for at least 4 days.
  • Travelers must have medical insurance that covers COVID-19
  • Take a PCR COVID-19 test from a certified laboratory within the 5 days prior to arrival at BVI and obtain a negative result. Kids under age 5 are exempt from testing.
  • Upload your negative COVID-19 PCR test results no later than 2 days before your travel date. As a result, if you test 5 days prior to arrival, you must use a service that provides a quick turnaround.
  • Note that you must have both a BVI Travel Authorization and a negative COVID-19 PCR test result on you to be allowed to board the flight to BVI.
  • At the BVI airport, all arrivals are administered a COVID-19 PCR test, and also assigned a tracking bracelet. Make sure to have printed copies of your BVI Travel Authorization and your negative COVID-19 PCR test result.
  • After proceeding directly to the hotel or approved lodging, travelers must quarantine, taking another COVID-19 PCR test on day 4.

Note that the first 24 hours must be spent inside the traveler's reserved hotel room. At Rosewood Little Dix Bay, assuming the airport COVID-19 PCR test was negative, travelers are permitted to move around the resort, including going to the beach, during the rest of their quarantine period.

After a negative COVID-19 test result from the test taken on Day 4, visitors are permitted to move around all of the British Virgin Islands, venturing outside their hotel or resort.

Where to Stay in the British Virgin Islands

The most luxurious resort in BVI is Virgin Limited Edition's 74-acre Necker Island, a private island owned by Sir Richard Branson. It has 17 rooms, and typically the island is rented out exclusively as a buy-out, although there are a few “Celebration Weeks” when it's possible to stay as an individual, couple or family for 7 nights, alongside others. Virtuoso benefits include:

  • Daily full breakfast
  • Two complimentary one hour massages (applies to lead couple only). Valid for adults 16 years or older
  • Early check-in/late check-out, subject to availability
  • Complimentary Wi-Fi

.

The recently renovated Rosewood Little Dix Bay in Virgin Gorda is a beautiful property, although is still finding its feet in terms of service, a common issue among Caribbean luxury resorts. Virtuoso benefits include:

  • Upgrade on arrival, subject to availability
  • Complimentary Full American Breakfast for two, per bedroom, daily for duration of the stay
  • $100 USD equivalent Food & Beverage credit to be utilized during stay (not combinable, not valid on room rate, no cash value if not redeemed in full)
  • Early check-in/late check-out, subject to availability
  • Complimentary Wi-Fi
