Chase to Avios 20% Transfer Bonus

Chase to Avios 20% Transfer Bonus

.

Transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards Points to British Airways Avios (also Iberia Avios and Aer Lingus Aer Club) with a 20% Transfer Bonus. While not as high as the 30% transfer bonus to Avios several months ago, it can still be worthwhile for those planning to redeem soon for award flights (although we don't recommend flying British Airways metal, as we'll explain below).

Chase transfer bonuses and category bonuses in travel, dining, and rotating categories such as hotels, grocery stores, and restaurants are why we put more total spend on our Chase Sapphire Reserve, Ink Business, and Chase Freedom Flex cards than on our AMEX cards.

Here are the offer details, followed by an example of award flights we recently booked thanks to this transfer bonus.

  • Must first link your Chase Ultimate Rewards account with your British Airways Executive Club account
  • Complete the transfer from Chase Ultimate Rewards to British Airways Executive Club no later than 11:59pm ET on 3/31/25
  • Minimum transfer is 1000 Ultimate Rewards points, which will become 1200 Avios

Best Uses of British Airways Avios

Since British Airways Executive Club has a distance based award chart, with significant charges for first class and business class (as well as high fuel surcharges on British Airways awards), we don't recommend using Avios for long haul first class awards, especially on British Airways metal. The British Airways Executive Club award calendar opens 354 days in advance while the Alaska Mileage Plan calendar opens just 330 days in advance, so using Avios to reserve award flights does give you a 24 day lead in securing award seats.

Avios, with the transfer bonus, can provide a good value for Iberia Business Class awards. We've reserved Iberia Business Class for clients to Europe from Dallas DFW for 42,500 Avios + $127 one way for off-peak dates. With the 20% transfer bonus, it works out to 36,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points, a fantastic deal for transatlantic business class, particularly when you consider how much easier it is to earn Chase Ultimate Rewards points from credit card spend, with 2X, 3X and 5X category bonuses from various Chase cards, compared to earning other miles via credit card spend.

Currently another option, if wanting to get to Northern Europe, is Finnair Business Class, for 62,500 Avios + ~$158 each way for select summer 2025 and January-February 2026 dates between Helsinki and Chicago ORD, Dallas DFW, Los Angeles LAX, and New York JFK. You'll want to reserve with Finnair Avios (it's possible to combine British Airways Avios with Finnair Avios) because British Airways charges >$1000 in taxes/fuel surcharges on Finnair award flights, which you'll want to avoid.

Other good options can be redeeming for Qatar Qsuites Business Class to DohaQatar First Class from Doha to the Maldives by transferring your BA Avios to Qatar Avios, short haul economy flights in the U.S. or from the U.S. to the Caribbean on American, intra-Europe on British Airways, intra-Japan on JAL, and intra-Asia on Cathay Pacific or JAL.
