Worst Airlines and Airports for Cancellations, Delays Summer 2022

.

If flying soon, avoid these airlines and airports, given their recent high rate of cancellations and delays, per FlightAware data. The spate of cancellations and delays is being driven by several factors, including lack of available staff, partly due to covid-related illnesses; strikes (see SAS Cancels Flights, Files for Bankruptcy); and high leisure traveler demand. Since most clients and readers aren't flying to or from China these days, we've eliminated Chinese airlines and airports and a few other niche airlines and airports not used by our clients.

If you can, avoid flying SAS and Canadian airlines in particular, as well as most other European airlines, Southwest, Avianca, Qantas, JetBlue, and American Airlines in the near future over this busy summer season. And if you must fly in the U.S., Delta, is likely to be your best bet operationally in terms of the major airlines, with Alaska and Hawaiian best as regional carriers.

In terms of airports, the worst ones of late have been Oslo, Toronto, London City LCY, London Heathrow LHR, as well as airports in Canada, Scandinavia, Germany, Australia, and to a lesser extent, the U.S.
