The Trump Waikiki Hotel Will Reflag as the Wākea Waikiki Beach, part of Hilton's LXR Hotels & Resorts, effective February 2024. The name, “Wākea,” draws inspiration from the Hawaiian story of Wākea, the Sky Father. In Hawaiian mythology, Wākea and Papahānaumoku, the Earth Mother, jointly created the Hawaiian Islands.
For our family clients who take longer vacations in Waikiki, the Trump Waikiki has been a favorite property, thanks to its suite residences that include full kitchens, washer and dryer. Originally opened in 2009, it's one of the larger hotels, with 462 rooms and suites.
As part of becoming an LXR resort, the hotel will undergo a custom design renovation by the internationally acclaimed BOS Studio, whose work includes projects for The Connaught, Claridge's and The Berkeley Hotel in London. The renovation will start in early 2025 and is slated to take place over several months. Work will be phased to minimize disruption to daily operations and will encompass upgrades to public areas, including lobbies, pool areas, spa, fitness center, residence corridors, landscaping, and residence interiors. In addition, Wai`olu and In-Yō Café will be reimagined, and the destination restaurant on the ground floor will soon be home to an internationally acclaimed restaurateur and chef.
Once the hotel joins LXR in February 2024, TravelSort Clients will be able to reserve with Hilton Impresario benefits, including:
- Daily breakfast for two guests per room, served through in-room dining or in the hotel restaurant (including buffets)
- Upgrade of one category, based on availability at check-in
- Double Hilton HHonors points for the stay
- $100 equivalent hotel credit once during the stay
