Which Travel Destinations are the Most Vaccinated? As countries and U.S. states continue to reopen, some are using the benchmark of 60-70 percent vaccination to decide when to loosen restrictions. For example, Canada will reopen to fully vaccinated Americans August 9, 2021. Hawaii reopened July 8, 2021 to fully vaccinated visitors, allowing them to visit Hawaii without pre-travel COVID-19 testing. And on June 15, 2021, New York lifted all COVID-19 restrictions, now that 70% of adult New Yorkers have received at least one vaccine dose.

That said, with the highly transmissible Delta variant, some epidemiologists believe that closer to 90 percent of a population will need to be vaccinated in order to curb outbreaks. Here are the current most vaccinated travel destinations:

  • Midtown Manhattan, NYC: 85-100% of adults are fully vaccinated. See NYC vaccinations by zip code.
  • San Francisco: 84% of eligible residents have received at least one dose; 76% of all San Franciscans are fully vaccinated. San Francisco is the first major U.S. city thought to have reached herd immunity. In some parts of the city, over 90% of the population is fully vaccinated.
