Review: JAL Sakura Lounge Skyview Tokyo Haneda Airport

Review: JAL Sakura Lounge Skyview Tokyo Haneda Airport

.

This JAL Sakura Lounge Skyview Tokyo Haneda Airport Review is from our 2020 visit, prior to our JAL Sky Suite Business Class flight from Tokyo HND to New York JFK. The lounge is currently closed, given the current Japan Travel Ban and lack of flying, although it reopened in October 2019 after being renovated.

JAL Sakura Lounge Skyview Tokyo Haneda Location, Access and Hours

The JAL Sakura Lounge Skyview Tokyo Haneda is located after security, just past gate 114, on the 5th floor, up several escalators. Normally, the lounge is open 6am-2:45am daily. The lounge is open to JAL First Class, Business Class, Premium Economy, and even full fare economy class passengers. Additionally, JAL Mileage Bank Sapphire and Diamond elites and JAL Global Club members can also access the lounge. That's less exclusive than JAL's Sakura Business Class lounges, although fortunately the lounge is quite large.

JAL Sakura Lounge Skyview Tokyo Haneda Seating and Food

Our favorite part of the lounge was the bar seating in the food area, thanks to its wall of windows and view of the tarmac.

Other seating areas include this one, with plenty of armchairs and power outlets between seats:

There was quiet room seating towards the back:

Food was all individually wrapped, as a precaution given the coronavirus, and included tasty salmon onigiri, sandwiches, Vietnamese shrimp salad rolls, and even pork miso soup on request, served to wherever one was sitting.

The Verdict

The reopened JAL Sakura Lounge Skyview at Tokyo Haneda Airport is large and was mostly empty due to reduced travel during Q1 2020. While its offerings are far more modest than for JAL's Sakura Business Class Lounge in Tokyo Narita, since the lounge is also for JAL Premium Economy and full fare economy passengers, the lack of other guests made it far more relaxing than even the JAL First Class Lounge, at least when the latter is busy.

The seating looks fresh, as you'd expect for a lounge that reopened so recently, in October 2019, with ample power outlets.

Given the need to individually wrap all food, there was still a decent selection of sandwiches, tasty onigiri, matcha green tea scones, mini fruit plates, and even a hot pork miso soup, available on request.
