Review-Fairmont Pacific Rim Vancouver 2019

Fairmont Pacific Rim Vancouver

This Fairmont Pacific Rim Vancouver Virtuoso Review is from our stay earlier this year. We experienced two different room types, a Junior Suite and a Fairmont Gold Harbour View Room, so our review, photos and video cover both room types, and the Virtuoso benefits we provide clients.

There are four Fairmont hotels in Vancouver, but the Fairmont Pacific Rim is the newest, having opened in 2010.

Fairmont Pacific Rim Location and Check-In

The Fairmont Pacific Rim is located at 1038 Canada Place in Vancouver, by Vancouver Harbour and the Convention Center, and a short distance to Stanley Park. It's about a 30-40 minute drive from Vancouver International Airport (YVR), and it's possible to get the metro (Canada Line) to Waterfront Station, which is about a 7 minute walk from the hotel. Going from the hotel to the station, if you have much luggage, ask if the complimentary house car service is available for the short 3 min. drive to the station.

There was no line at the front desk during our early afternoon arrival, and we were swiftly checked in. The front desk is located on the right, just past the Concierge desk, which is the first right after entering.

Fairmont Pacific Rim, Vancouver Junior Suite

We spent our first night in a Junior Suite on the 6th floor. While at most hotels, a Junior Suite is simply one large room, without any separation between the bed and living area, at the Fairmont Pacific Rim, the Junior Suite is actually a true suite, and spacious at 800 square feet.

Just off the entrance is a full bathroom, which can be used by the kids or guest sleeping in the living room:

As at most Fairmont hotels, the bath products are Le Labo's Rose 31. I like Le Labo, although not particularly Rose 31. People tend to either love or hate rose scents, and generally, I think lemon verbena, lemongrass or another citrus scent would be a more neutral and unisex scent for many.

The Junior Suite living area features a sofa, flat screen TV, desk, mini bar and Nespresso machine:

There's also a dining table for 4, and a lovely welcome amenity of Michel Cluizel chocolates awaited us there:

Later that afternoon, an additional welcome amenity of a cheese and fruit plate arrived, which we also enjoyed, especially with the accompanying lavosh crackers and honey:

Just off the living room is a sliding glass door leading out onto a small private terrace, furnished with a table and chairs. It overlooks part of the green living roof of the Vancouver Convention Centre, and also enjoys views of the mountains; see the video.

The Junior Suite's living and dining area is separated from the bedroom and master bathroom by a door, making it perfect for families, since you can put the kids to bed in the living room area and be able to talk or watch a movie with your partner in the bedroom.

Here's our Fairmont Pacific Rim Vancouver Video Review:

Fairmont Gold Harbour View Room

Fairmont Gold Rooms, which enjoy access to the Fairmont Gold Lounge on the 20th floor, are located on the 20th and 21st floors. Rooms are 400 square feet (37 square meters), so half the size of Junior Suites, although Fairmont Gold Suites (800 square feet) are also available.

The bathroom featured a soaking tub and separate glass enclosed rain shower, as well as a mirror embedded TV above the sink.

The water view was stunning from the 21st floor.

I'll be posting a separate review of the Fairmont Gold Lounge, which is open from 6:30am-10:30pm daily, and serves breakfast, afternoon snacks, evening hors d'oeuvres and desserts.

Outdoor Swimming Pool and Fitness Center

The Fairmont Pacific Rim's heated outdoor swimming pool and jacuzzi are open year round, and are on the 6th floor.

The Verdict

The Fairmont Pacific Rim currently is the luxury hotel we most recommend to clients headed to Vancouver, and is also a favorite staycation destination for clients in and near Vancouver. It's newer than the other luxury hotel competitors, with many well appointed rooms and suites that offer sweeping water views.

The Gold Lounge in particular is excellent, and easily one of the top luxury hotel club lounges in North America thanks to its superior food offerings and service level.
