The Orient Express La Minerva Rome Hotel is now open as the first Orient Express hotel; the brand has been resurrected by Accor, in partnership with LVMH. Originally built in 1620 as the Portuguese Fonseca family's lavish residence, it became one of Rome's top luxury hotels in 1811. Over the years, it hosted notable writers such as Herman Melville and George Sand.

The hotel is located at Piazza della Minerva 69, about a 2-minute walk from the Pantheon, a 10-minute walk from the Trevi Fountain, a 15-minute walk from the Roman Forum and a 22-minute walk from the Colosseum.

The hotel, meticulously restored, and with interiors by Franco-Mexican designer Hugo Toro, has 93 rooms and suites, some with private balconies. King beds are swathed in Rivolta Carmignani linen, there are complimentary soft drinks in the mini bar, and shared butler services are available. Rooms start with the entry level Classic Room (269 sq. ft.) and range up to the Deluxe Room with Minerva Square Views (376 sq. ft.). Junior Suites start at 495 sq. ft., and include the Junior Suite with Terrace.

Suites start from a spacious 678 sq. ft., and extend up through signature suites to the Orient Express Suite (2055 sq. ft.), with Piazza della Minerva and Pantheon views, living and dining space, full bathroom plus powder room, and dedicated butler services.

The hotel's two restaurants include its Rooftop Restaurant & Bar on the 7th floor, from which guests can enjoy panoramic views of Piazza della Minerva, St. Peter’s Dome, the Pantheon and the Altare della Patria.
