Four Seasons Will Manage the San Domenico Palace Hotel in Taormina, Sicily, Italy when it reopens from its extensive renovation, most likely later in 2021. This will be the third Four Seasons in Italy, after Four Seasons Firenze in Florence and Four Seasons Milan.

It will also be one of the more unique Four Seasons hotels, located in an architecturally significant building, a collection that includes the Four Seasons Hotel Lion Palace Saint Petersburg in Russia, an exquisitely restored 19th century palace and the aforementioned Four Seasons Firenze, comprising two Renaissance palaces and their enchanting 11 acre gardens.

San Domenico Palace Location and Facilities

The San Domenico Palace is in a renovated 15th century Dominican monastery, with a Grand Hotel Wing that was added in 1896. Many guest rooms and public spaces feature original architecture and facades from the historic building. When the renovated hotel reopens, it will offer 111 guest rooms and suites. Notable past guests include Oscar Wilde, Elizabeth Taylor, and DH Lawrence, among others.

The hotel's site in Taormina overlooks the Bay of Taormina and the Ionian Sea as well as Mount Etna, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The hotel is just a 15-16 minute walk from the amphitheater, Teatro Antico di Taormina and a 10 minute walk to the Corvaja Palace from the medieval era.

San Domenico Palace also includes a private beach club located a 15 minute drive from the hotel (complimentary access for suites), lush gardens, and several restaurants and bars including the two-Michelin star restaurant, Principe Cerami. A state-of-the-art spa will provide seven treatment rooms, an indoor pool, and a Turkish bath.
