The Four Seasons Charleston has been announced, the first Four Seasons in South Carolina and the only major luxury brand to be in Charleston, now that The Charleston Place is no longer part of Belmond.
The hotel will be located at 155 Meeting Street, a mere two minute walk from The Charleston Place Hotel in downtown Charleston, and walking distance to local sights such as Charleston City Market, the Joe Riley Waterfront Park, The Battery, The Charleston Museum, and others. The 1.9 acre location currently houses a budget hotel, which will be razed to make room for the new build hotel. There will be 150 rooms and suites, which is about one third the number of The Charleston Place and on par with The Dewberry Charleston, another Virtuoso hotel. While the hotel will be the focal point of the project, there will also be about 40 private residences offered to buyers.
While the requisite zoning changes have received approval from the Charleston City Council and plans for the property have been submitted to Charleston’s Board of Architectural Review, there's no date set yet for the razing of the current hotel or the opening of the new Four Seasons Charleston.
