Fly Emirates A380 First Class for $984 (USD) one way from Christchurch CHC to Sydney SYD, with many days available at this rate. For our clients planning a trip down under, it's a great way to experience Emirates first class perks, such as a shower on board, without spending many thousands more. The Christchurch to Sydney flight is a little over 3 hours, but for comparison, an Emirates 777 First Class flight from Miami to Bogota (with no shower on board the 777) prices ~$3500 one way.

In the Christchurch area, we highly recommend Otahuna Lodge, which has been a highlight for us and for clients. Try the new Polo Suite, with great natural light from its dual exposure windows and view of the Great Lawn, as well as spacious bathroom, or the Verandah Master Suite, with its private verandah and view of the Canterbury Plains. Rates include all meals, and dinner is a sumptuous affair, with hors d'oeuvres, four courses, and wine pairings. Make sure to reserve Otahuna early, since it only has 7 suites.

In Sydney, we especially like the Capella Sydney for its beautiful design and elevated service; we reserve it with Virtuoso benefits. It doesn't have harbor views, however (apart from partial views from the Liberty Suite), so if sweeping harbor views or an Opera House view is a must, we'd suggest the Park Hyatt Sydney, which we reserve with Hyatt Prive benefits, which include a confirmed upgrade at booking and early check-in/late check-out during non-peak periods, as well as complimentary daily breakfast and hotel credit.
