The Coronavirus Has Affected Many Travelers' Upcoming Hotel Stays. Fortunately, a number of luxury hotels have cancellation waivers in place, at least through the end of March, for stays in Asia and sometimes Italy, as well as travel of travelers resident in China for their outbound travels.
Even if your particular stay isn't covered by one of the policies below, if you're unable to travel, for example because your employer is now forbidding international travel, or because you may have been exposed to someone with the coronavirus and are under quarantine, definitely contact the hotel directly (or the booking channel you used to book) to see if you can be accommodated. The last thing most hotels want to do is take a chance of other guests or their staff being exposed to the virus.
Also even if you're within the cancellation period for a hotel in a destination not affected (yet) by the coronavirus, and the hotel won't provide a refund, the hotel may allow you to move your stay later in the year. This has been the case with several hotels my clients are booked at, where they are permitted to change to dates for stays prior to mid-December this year.

Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis, Bulgari, The Luxury Collection: Waived Cancellation Fees for Select Locations/Travelers Until 3/31/20
Marriott Luxury Brands, which include Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis, Bulgari, The Luxury Collection, W Hotels and EDITION, are waiving cancellation fees for individual guests traveling to or from the following locations:
- Asia Pacific: Mainland China, Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, French Polynesia, Maldives, India, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Nepal Bangladesh, Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, New Caledonia, Samoa
- Europe: Italy
Note that the cancellation waivers do not apply to group bookings.
Four Seasons: Cancellation Fees Waived Until April 15
Four Seasons is waiving cancellation fees for guest stays until March 31 for its hotels in the Asia Pacific region and Europe (excluding the UK). Cancellation fees are also waived until 4/15 for guests traveling from Italy, South Korea, China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan to any Four Seasons globally.

Hyatt: Cancellation Fees Waived Until March 31
Hyatt is also waiving cancellation fees for guest stays until March 31 for stays in China, Hong Kong, Japan, Macau, South Korea, or Taiwan Hyatt hotels.

MGM Resorts International: New Reservations Have Lenient Cancellation Policy
While there are no changes to the cancellation policy for previously made reservations, any new reservations made from 3/11/20-4/30/20 for any stay date will have a cancellation policy of 3pm local time on the day of arrival.

Rosewood Hotels: Cancellation Fees Waived Until Further Notice
Due to the coronavirus, and until further notice, Rosewood Hotels are waiving cancellation fees for individual guest stays at hotels in Mainland China and Hong Kong, as well as for guests from Mainland China and Hong Kong traveling to other Rosewood hotels globally.

Shangri-La: Cancellation Fees Waived Until March 31
For all guests travelling to any Shangri-La hotels in Greater China, and for guests who plan to travel from Greater China and Korea to any of our hotels globally, on or before 31st March 2020, Shangri-La will waive the cancellation charges regardless of booking channel for booking made prior to 1st March 2020.
