Best Luxury Resort in the World: Can You Guess the Place?

Best Luxury Resort in the World I've Been to: Can You Guess the Place?

Update: See my Laucala Island Resort Review!

When clients ask about the best luxury resort in the world, there are several that spring to mind. But now, for the client willing to splurge (or for whom money is no object) I have a new best luxury resort to recommend. The journey starts in the resort's private lounge in the international airport, and continues with a less than an hour private flight:

Once there, enjoy a welcome drink of refreshing young coconut, and a warm greeting from the GM and even local music (can't include that photo as it's a dead giveaway!)

Breathe in fresh air and feel yourself relax, as you take in the coconut tree grove:

Be whisked off to your private villa, with its own pool. Our entry level one bedroom had a separate living room, giving our son his own space for sleeping, and us complete privacy in the other section of the villa. There's also a massive indoor bath and separate rain shower that would accommodate a pro basketball player, plus an outdoor bath and outdoor shower.

If that weren't enough, you're only steps away from the beach, where you're unlikely to see a soul–effectively your own private beach.

Or take a lazy swim in the largest pool in the Southern Hemisphere, also steps from the beach, or in the distinctive rectangular pool:

If you feel like a cruise or some snorkeling and diving, just say the word; the resort has its own fleet of boats, and all boat trips and scuba diving within the inner reef is already included in your rate. We were lucky enough to even see a huge pod of dolphins–video to come!

Or perhaps you feel like some horseback riding. It was the first time for us, but no matter–our friendly steeds were patient and amiably ambled along, although experts can of course enjoy a more challenging ride if desired. There's also tennis, which we hope to play, and a golf course, although none of us golf.

Each meal is a gourmet delight, and we have to restrain ourselves given how delicious everything is. And no wonder–the head chef and pastry chef are French, the resort grows over 90% of all its food in its organic garden, and the Thai restaurant is helmed by a Thai chef. The photos show just part of our breakfast (presented to us even before we saw or ordered anything from the menu), as well as a delectable passion fruit strawberry tiramisu that we enjoyed.

Every afternoon a new fantastic pastry appears under a glass dome in our living room, such as this scrumptious banana coconut cake 🙂

The friendly staff couldn't be more helpful and flexible, as when we suddenly changed our plans today, and they easily changed all our activities.

No wonder then, that among our fellow guests we met a family who is already on their 7th visit to the resort, which has become their annual tradition.

Can you guess the resort?
