The Peninsula London will be Peninsula's newest hotel, and its second in Europe, after The Peninsula Paris. It is now open for stays at 1-5 Grosvenor Place, Hyde Park Corner, which is just a 3 minute walk from the Hyde Park Corner Tube Station (Piccadilly Line). The Belgravia location is very central: right by Hyde Park and Buckingham Palace Gardens, a 10 minute walk from Buckingham Palace, an easy walk to Harrods and other Knightsbridge shopping and dining, and a 25 minute walk to the National Gallery.
Designed by Hopkins Architects, the new build hotel's off-street entrance is a tranquil cobble-paved forecourt, landscaped by world-renowned designer Enzo Enea in the style of a classic English garden with cascading ivy and wisteria vines, and two 120-year-old Japanese maple trees (the oldest of their kind in Europe). The Peninsula London's luxury cars available for guest hire include four bespoke hybrid Bentley Bentaygas, an electrified 1960 vintage Austin taxi, and a painstakingly restored 1935 Rolls Royce Phantom.
The hotel's interiors have been designed by architect Peter Marino (whose work also includes Cheval Blanc Paris), with commissioned work from top British artisans such as Jenny Packham, Claude Bosi, Timothy Han and over 40 artists from The Royal Drawing School.

We've eagerly anticipating its opening for a couple reasons: 1) some of London's current centrally located properties could use some competition to spur them to deliver a higher caliber product and service; and 2) The Peninsula London will offer our PenClub clients PenTime flexible check-in and check-out, as early as 6am check-in and as late as 10pm check-out. If the reserved room or suite isn't available, a holding room is provided. This is incredibly convenient for our clients arriving into London on overnight flights, who can have access to a room immediately upon their arrival, obviating the need to reserve the prior night.

Peninsula London Rooms and Suites
The Peninsula London offers 190 exquisitely styled guest rooms (549 – 635 sq. ft.), and sumptuous suites, together with 25 private residences. The entry level Deluxe Room (549-570 sq. ft.) is available with one king or two twin beds and overlooks the hotel's English courtyard, while the next category, the Premier Room, offers Grosvenor Crescent Views. We recommend upgrading to the Grand Premier Park Room (560-635 sq. ft.) for its magnificent views of Hyde Park and Wellington Arch.

Many rooms and suites feature floor-to ceiling-windows with unparalleled views over Buckingham Palace Gardens, Wellington Arch, and historic Belgravia. All are appointed with bespoke furnishings, textiles, and artworks, each with mahogany-panelled dressing rooms outfitted with the signature Peninsula Valet box. The valet box is a convenient and discreet way to leave laundry or shoes that need polishing in a box that the valet team can access from hotel hallway without disturbing the guest.

Spacious bathrooms are of honey onyx, and will include all the convenient toiletries that Peninsula hotels provide, such as dental kit, nail kit, razor, etc.

Small families may want to reserve a Junior Suite (753-764 sq. ft.) as these include a sofa bed, accommodating three guests. Note that initially, with the September opening, true suites are limited, with just the Premier Suite and Grand Premier Park Suite available. From 11/21/23, a Superior Suite and Deluxe Suite are also available, and in 2024 the Grand Premier Terrace Rooms, Grand Premier Suites, Grand Premier Terrace Suites, and Signature Suites will debut.
Of the Peninsula London's four signature suites, three enjoy sweeping private balconies and terraces, making them ideal venues for special-occasion gatherings. The most opulent, The Peninsula Suite, includes a private screening room and fitness centre, as well as access to exclusive VIP drop-off and pick-up service at the underground car park for optimal privacy and security. The Peninsula Suite can also be interconnected with as many as six other rooms and suites on the floor to create a lavish private apartment-like environment comprising nearly 16,000 sq. ft. / 1490 sq. m.) – one of the largest in London.

Peninsula London Restaurants and Amenities
The hotel’s rooftop restaurant, Brooklands, will offer contemporary European cuisine from Claude Bosi (of the 2-Michelin-star Bibendum) in an ensemble of distinctive spaces inspired by the classic eras of British aviation and motorsport. The venue, designed by storied London architects Archer Humphryes, comprises a sleek main dining room with a sweeping outdoor terrace with enchanting views, where an overhead scale model of the iconic Concorde gives diners the sense of being airborne; and an automotive-themed bar whose décor incorporates rare motoring memorabilia and a rotating display of original classic race cars from the Brooklands racetrack and museum. Brooklands will open late September 2023, and is bookable from early September 2023.

An exclusive cigar tasting lounge, helmed by Manu Harit, certified “Master of Havana Cigars,” complete with a walk-in humidor with private cigar lockers will be available. All three spaces are accessed from the hotel lobby via dedicated lift cars, styled in the manner of hot-air balloons with wicker-lined interiors.
On the ground floor, Canton Blue, the hotel’s Cantonese restaurant, will celebrate the spice-trade union of Asian and British cultures with menus of creative dishes by Chef Dicky To (of Lili at The Peninsula Paris) along with cocktails, and artisanal teas. The space’s exotic décor, created by esteemed Hong Kong-based interior designer Henry Leung of CAP Atelier, was inspired by the Keying junk, a three-masted, 800-ton Chinese trading ship which sailed between China and Britain between 1846 and 1848. Canton Blue will is now open.

Guests who cherish tradition will additionally find the signature Peninsula Afternoon Tea, along with all-day dining classics, served beneath the soaring ceilings of The Lobby restaurant with live music throughout the day. Meanwhile, The Peninsula Boutique & Café offers a relaxed retail and grab-and-go concept that melds seamlessly with the local Belgravia community.
The Peninsula Spa will offer a fully equipped fitness center, exercise classes, 82 foot (25 m.) swimming pool, and a diverse array of massages, facial and body treatments, Ayurvedic aromatherapy and relaxation rituals. Note that the spa is opening November 2023.

Why do the exterior Lion statues have their eyes covered in red cloths?
Christine, are you in London, and this is what you’ve observed? None of the photos in the post show this, but if you’re speaking of the actual statues, the eyes may be covered until the hotel opens. The Peninsula’s iconic lion statues are symbolic guardians, and so there may be a ceremonial removing of the cloths covering the lions’ eyes at the time the new hotel opens.
