Location and Getting to Rosewood Miyakojima, Okinawa, Japan
Okinawa, at the southern end of the Japanese archipelago, is known for its tropical climate and healthy living: it's gained renown as one of the five so-called “blue zones” whose inhabitants live longest, thanks to healthy living practices (the other blue zones are Sardinia, Italy; Nicoya, Costa Rica; Ikaria, Greece; and Loma Linda, California).
Miyako Island is especially picturesque, with miles of soft, white sand and beautiful turquoise ocean views. Marine adventures range from snorkeling at Yabiji, the largest coral reef expanse in Japan, to diving through underwater caverns teeming with marine life and outstanding deep-sea fishing.
Most guests will likely add Rosewood Miyakojima to a Japan trip, flying to Miyako Airport (MMY) from Tokyo Haneda (HND) on Japan Airlines or ANA, or possibly Osaka (KIX) on ANA. Miyako Airport is only a 20 minute drive from the resort. Another option for those coming from Hong Kong is flying HK Express to Shimojishima Airport (SHI), which is a 30 minute drive from the resort.
