The Portrait Milan Will Open in Fall 2020, the third Portrait Hotel, following the Portrait Roma in Rome and Portrait Firenze in Florence. The Portrait Hotels are the 5-star hotels of the Salvatore Ferragamo family, whose Lungarno Collection also includes four 4-star hotels in Florence.
Portrait Milano Location
The new Portrait Milano, as the Portrait Milan will be known, will be in a historical location, in the Archiepiscopal Seminary of Milan, Europe's oldest seminary, at 11 Corso Venezia. The ornate baroque entrance was designed in 1652 by Francesco Maria Richini, and it leads to a grand piazza of 32,300 square feet, surrounded by a double colonnaded loggia.
This is in the heart of Milan's fashion district, close to scores of luxury boutiques; the closest Salvatore Ferragamo boutique is just a 3 minute walk, and other nearby brands include Bulgari, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Giorgio Armani, Missoni, Issey Miyake, Roberto Cavelli, Dolce&Gabbana and Emanuel Ungaro, to name a few.
The Portrait Milano will be more than a hotel; since the seminary location is quite large, the project will encompass restaurants and cafes, shops, and public space, meant to attract local Milanese as much as visitors, particularly as the fashion district has a paucity of restaurants given the ~25,000 people who pass through it daily.
Possible Future Portrait Hotel Locations
According to Valeriano Antonioli, CEO of Lungarno Collection, the likely 4th location for a Portrait hotel would be in Venice, Italy, followed by London, Paris and Zurich. The key constraint is finding viable locations.
