Park Hyatt Zurich Review
Park Hyatt Zurich Hotel

This Park Hyatt Zurich Hotel Review is from our 2019 site inspection stay, following a stay at The Dolder Grand, also in Zurich. The hotel was built in 2004, and the last major renovation of rooms and suites was in 2014-2015, although there was a soft renovation in 2018 focused on walls and flooring.

Park Hyatt Zurich Location and Check-In

The Park Hyatt Zurich is located in central Zurich on Beethovenstrasse 21, just a few minutes' walk from Lake Zurich, which makes for a scenic walk (although we couldn't believe how crowded it was with sunbathers on the warm summer day we visited).

Depending on the time of day, it can take as little as 25-30 minutes door to door from Zurich Airport to the hotel, by train, for example the S2 airport train, getting off at Zurich Enge and walking about 9 minutes to the hotel.

As we arrived in the middle of the day, before our room was ready, we left our luggage and went out to lunch. By the time we returned, our luggage had been transferred to our 5th floor King Room (high floor rooms are an upgraded category, and can usually be confirmed at time of booking for TravelSort Clients, as a Hyatt Prive benefit).

The Verdict

The Park Hyatt Zurich is an excellent base when needing to be in the city center, if you prefer a contemporary decor. It doesn't have the lovely outdoor courtyard or the lake views from some rooms that the nearby Baur au Lac has, but rates do tend to reflect this.

Rooms are on the small side, and I would have preferred double sinks and a more fully separated rain shower and bathtub area, but otherwise the room was comfortable, even though we needed to use our Thermarests due to the characteristically too firm mattresses, but that's an issue for us at all Park Hyatts.

We experienced excellent service, from the warm welcome at check-in to helpful directions from the Concierge and gracious service during breakfast. The fruit welcome amenity that arrived in the evening was especially nice, with not only bananas and grapes, but also a fresh papaya, passion fruit, and fresh figs.

Breakfast featured the best of both worlds: a high quality buffet with fresh fruit, cereals, yogurts, fresh breads and pastries, smoked salmon, cheeses, bacon, sausage, etc., plus the option to order egg dishes, pancakes or waffles made to order.

Overall a very good city center stay, and one of the better city Park Hyatt hotels service-wise.
