The Mandarin Oriental Luzern will open in Fall 2022 (currently bookable from 10/14/22) as the 12th Mandarin Oriental in Europe, following an extensive three-year renovation of the former Hotel Palace Luzern.
.
Mandarin Oriental Luzern Location
The hotel is located on the shores of Lake Lucerne at Haldenstrasse 10, Luzern, about a 50 minute drive from Zurich Airport (ZRH). For those wanting to stay in Lucerne proper, it's the most luxurious choice, although if time permits, we recommend also staying at the gorgeous boutique hotel Park Hotel Vitznau, also located on Lake Lucerne, about a 30 minute drive away.
.
Mandarin Oriental Luzern Rooms and Suites
The hotel's 136 guest rooms start with Superior Rooms, which are quite small at just 269 sq. ft., followed by Superior Lake View, at 323 sq. ft., then the Superior Lake View with Balcony and Superior Lake View with Terrace. We recommend reserving at least a Deluxe Lake View Room, as these are nearly 400 sq. ft., and ideally a Lake View Junior Suite with Terrace (505 sq. ft.) or higher.
.
Those looking to splurge can choose from the two Panoramic Rooftop Terrace Suites, each with superb 360-degree lake and mountain views, or the luxurious Presidential Suite which offers 1453 sq. ft. of elegantly appointed space, including panoramic lake views, bespoke artwork and Icelandic down duvets. Most rooms have private balconies or terraces and all are equipped with amenities by Diptyque and Bose sound systems.
.
Mandarin Oriental Luzern Dining
When the hotel opens in Fall 2022, two of its four restaurants will be available, both with hotel will become an epicurean destination within the city, offering four restaurants and bars under the helm of Michelin starred Executive Chef Gilad Peled, who was previously Executive Chef at Gordon Ramsay Restaurants. MOzern Bar & Brasserie is the hotel's all-day-dining restaurant, with Asian cuisine, continental classics, afternoon tea and cocktails. Overlooking Lake Lucerne, Quai 10 is perfec for al fresco dining with Mediterranean cuisine.
.
The hotel's signature restaurants are expected to open in Q1 2023: Colonnade will offer modern French Haute cuisine, making the most of Peled's experience at the 2-Michelin Star Le Pressoir d'Argent in Bordeaux. Mizūmi, a six-seat jewel box of a Japanese restaurant, will feature a highly seasonal omakase tasting menu.
