Expiring Offers: Four Seasons, Peninsula Hotels, Alaska Buy Miles Bonus, AMEX Transfer Bonus

Expiring Offers-Four Seasons-Peninsula Hotels-Alaska Buy Miles Bonus

Several Offers are Expiring Soon: Great AMEX Offers for Four Seasons and Peninsula Hotels; the Buy Alaska Miles with up to a 50% Bonus; and the 40% AMEX Transfer Bonus to Avios. Here's what's expiring when, and how to take advantage of these luxury travel offers:

1. Buy Alaska Miles with Up to a 50% Bonus: Expires October 4, 2018

This is a targeted bonus, so if you find you're not targeted for the 50% bonus, check your spouse's or partner's account, to see if s/he has been targeted. Taking into account the taxes, with the 50% bonus you're paying 1.97 cents per Alaska mile, which is a good deal if you regularly redeem Alaska miles at high valuations, such as 4-5 or more cents per mile.

I particularly like Alaska miles when the goal is to include a stopover at the operating airline's hub, for example Cathay Pacific Business Class between the U.S. and Asia, with a stopover in Hong Kong, for just 50,000 miles each way, or JAL Sky Suite Business Class between the U.S. and Asia, with a stopover in Tokyo, for 60,000 miles each way (or 65,000 miles each way to Southeast Asia).

2. AMEX Offer: 15K AMEX Points for $750+ Spend at Four Seasons Hotels in the U.S.: Expires October 10, 2018

Even if you don't have a Four Seasons hotel stay in the U.S. by October 10, 2018, you should be able to obtain the 15,000 points for a future reservation if you pay in advance, or if you're staying at one of the resort properties, such as the Four Seasons Hawaii resorts (Four Seasons Hualalai, Four Seasons Maui, etc.) that take a 2 night deposit at time of booking. Just make sure your payment goes through before the October 10, 2018 deadline, and that you use the same AMEX card that you enrolled for this offer. And don't forget to reserve with Four Seasons Preferred Partner benefits for the best chance of an upgrade, since FSPP upgrades are prioritized ahead of AMEX Fine Hotels & Resorts, Virtuoso, direct hotel bookings, etc.

3. AMEX Offer: 10,000 AMEX Points for $500+ Spend at Peninsula Hotels: Expires October 31, 2018

The initial AMEX Offer was $100 statement credit for $500+ spend at The Peninsula New York or The Peninsula Beverly Hills, but a subsequent offer of 10,000 Membership Rewards points for $500+ spend at either of these Peninsula hotels was later promoted, and is even better. That's because, if you're savvy when redeeming them, you should be getting at least 2 cents per AMEX Membership Rewards point, if not more like 4-5 cents in value per point.

Interestingly, when I called AMEX to ask if I could remove the initial $100 statement credit offer, because I preferred the 10,000 Membership Rewards points offer, a supervisor assured me that I would get both. We'll see what I get, but if true, that's quite a deal, if you managed to save both offers to the same card, as I did: effectively $300 off $500 spend.

As with the AMEX Four Seasons offer, even if you don't have a Peninsula New York or Peninsula Beverly Hills stay that falls prior to October 31, 2018, just ask for a credit card authorization form so that you can prepay for the stay with the AMEX card you enrolled in the offer.

4. AMEX 40% Transfer Bonus to British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus Avios: Expires November 15, 2018

There's still over 1 month until this AMEX 40% transfer bonus to British Airways, Iberia and Aer Lingus expires, but note that the award calendar is already open for summer 2019, so now is a good time to reserve those award flights before they're gone. Iberia Business Class and Aer Lingus Business Class can be good bets for award travel to and from Europe if you don't find lower cost options using other miles, and don't forget Air Italy, for Italy travel. Also use Avios for short regional travel, such as Cathay Pacific Business Class or JAL Business Class within Asia, Qantas in Australia, AA to the Caribbean, etc.
