Guess the Luxury Hotel: History, Views, Dining

This Luxury Hotel is by this capital city's railway station, and was originally one of the great railway hotels. Today, after multiple renovations, it retains a sense of grandeur that starts with the beautiful floral displays in the lobby, and continues via the live harp music that graces afternoon tea.

My Deluxe Room was spacious, with a king bed, high ceilings, and plenty of natural light from the windows.

There are several distinctively decorated suites, including this one, where a celebrated children's author penned the final book in a series.

While I didn't have occasion to dine at the hotel's signature restaurant, even my supper at the brasserie was excellent, particularly the French Onion Soup and Hazelnut Profiteroles with Caramel Sauce:

Breakfast the following morning was also a treat. One of the things I look for with an excellent luxury hotel breakfast is the availability of fresh raspberries (which are more expensive to provide than strawberries) and they were available here, along with fresh blueberries, blackberries, cherries, and other fruit.

The pain aux raisins pastry and smoked salmon were also excellent.

The only thing I didn't care for were the rather wild kids in the swimming pool at 9pm at night; the hotel should have family hours earlier, and have some adult-only hours early and late in the day.
