Can You Guess This Luxury Hotel, Built at a King's Request? Originally opened in the early 20th century, the hotel reopened just over a year ago after an extensive multi-million dollar renovation.
Entering the lobby, a graceful gold and silver sculpture catches one's eye, a combination of both plants native to the area (in gold) and others from around the world (in silver).

I was generously upgraded to a spacious suite, and loved both the view and the welcome amenities that awaited me. Fresh flowers add so much to a room or suite, so I appreciated the beautiful bouquet that graced the coffee table, along with sparkling wine, fresh fruit, bottled water, and a delectably moist almond cake. It felt as though it was my birthday, even though I wasn't celebrating a special occasion.
.
This view from my suite window is likely to provide a huge clue to many:
.
The suite bedroom was also generously sized. While I found the bed very firm, it's perfect for those clients who prefer firm mattresses. I liked that the blackout shades worked well, and that the entire room was dark when I pressed the master switch for the lights; there were no annoying nightlights or other electronics with lights that disrupt sleep and compel the use of a sleep mask.
.
The marble bathroom had double sinks and one of the largest wet rooms I've seen, with both a large soaking tub and rain shower from the tall ceiling: NBA players would have no danger of bumping their heads.
.
A highlight is the new atrium crowned lobby lounge in the first photo of the post, flooded with natural light, which is also where a sumptuous breakfast is served each morning. Enjoy a beautiful selection of fresh fruit, as well as smoked salmon, cold cuts cheeses, breads and pastries, as well as the option to order a hot dish from the menu. Even better, service at breakfast was superb: both professional and friendly.
.
While I didn't have the opportunity to dine there due to a delayed flight and late arrival, the hotel's garden offers delightful al fresco dining.
.
Naturally there's a full service spa, a gym, and also a swimming pool.
