I personally don't view Bali as the best beach destination (for that, go to Amanpulo) or diving (go to Laucala or the Amanwana liveaboard, Amanikan) but there's no denying it has a very special feel to it, thanks to the very hospitable people, the majority of them Hindu, and unique culture, including gamelan music, Balinese dancing, and scrumptious food.

We recently stayed at the St. Regis Bali on a site inspection visit. It's on a wide, sloping beach that, at least during our visit, was being pounded by surf so was great for body surfing, although not swimming (and virtually no one was in the water, due to how rough it was). But even if you're not into body surfing, there are plenty of beach loungers for guests and free form shallow pools, including a salt water pool. The breakfast was rich and varied, and featured made to order egg and other entrees, in addition to the buffet. While it would be a shame to miss seeing other parts of Bali, as Nusa Dua is just a resort area, it was a good way to relax at the end of our trip, before long flights home.
