This ANA Business Class Video Review is from our recent flight from Tokyo Haneda HND to Los Angeles LAX. I'd originally reserved the 9:05pm flight as an award, but ANA cancelled the flight and moved me to the 12:50am, which I wasn't happy about.

ANA 787-9 Business Class Cabin and Seats
The ANA 787 Dreamliner Business Class has staggered seating in a 1-2-1 configuration, so each seat has direct aisle access.
.
We recommend selecting a seat closest to the window, with a counter separating it from the aisle; specifically we like seats 2K, 3C, 4K, 6K, and 7A, as these are by the window, aren't missing a window, and aren't right by the galleys or lavatories. For example, here's my seat, 4K, also pictured in the first photo of the post:
.
And here's 3H, which is right by the aisle, and more subject to the disturbance of aisle traffic:
.
Seats are 21 inches wide, similar to JAL 787-9 Business Class, although because JAL uses reverse herringbone seating where the window seats face away from the aisle, they feel a bit more private than the ANA aisle seats such as 3H above.
I noticed visible scuffing around the headset jack, which is above the power outlet and by the IFE controls.
.
Each seat already had a mattress pad, light down duvet, pillow, amenity kit, and slippers on the seat. The Globe Trotter amenity kit contained L'Occitane moisturizer and lip balm as well as the basics (dental kit, ear plugs, sleep mask) but there was no moisture mask, which JAL provides and is welcome relief given the dry cabin air.
.
We were offered orange juice or water for our pre-flight drink.
.
Since well after 1 am, I reclined my seat into a flat bed as soon as allowable after take-off. The provided mattress pad is better than the thin pad in Qatar Qsuites, but thinner than the airweave mattress pad in JAL Sky Suite Business Class, so I didn't sleep much, and wished I'd brought my Thermarest portable mattress pad.

The Verdict
ANA's 787-9 Business Class product is looking a bit worn in terms of the hard product, but still delivers a solid if unremarkable experience. As with other staggered products, we highly recommend selecting a seat close to the window, rather than the ones that are right by the aisle. The mattress pad seems a bit thinner than the airweave pad on JAL, so I didn't get much sleep, although I also blame the red eye departure of this flight, as it put me off-schedule. I prefer the JAL Business Class Sky Suite window seats on the 777-300ER for their greater privacy, as well as better food and the provision of a moisture mask in the amenity kit.
If you've flown ANA Business Class on the 787-9 recently, what was your experience?
