Villa Kennedy Frankfurt Location and Check-In

Villa Kennedy is conveniently located on Kennedyallee 70, just a 10-15 minute drive from Frankfurt Airport, and also a short drive or 15-20 min. walk from the Frankfurt train station. The former grand family home of the Speyer family, a prominent banking family, is in a residential area and is built around a relaxing garden courtyard that was in full bloom during our summer visit.

We arrived late morning, after a red eye flight from New York, so while we were quickly checked in by the friendly reception staff, our room wasn't quite ready.

I was traveling with my 10 year old son, who was given a lovely welcome letter, and a voucher for a complimentary mocktail:

We made our way through the lobby corridor, adorned with fresh flowers.

At the JFK Bar, we were welcomed and my son ordered a scrumptious passionfruit raspberry mocktail that I took a tax sip of, making me wish I was a kid too. “Pretty nice life, you have!” I informed him, as he grinned back over his mocktail.

We were getting a bit hungry, so we also ordered looked at the lunch menu and ordered some ravioli stuffed with cheese and herbs, which was delicious. The complimentary fresh bread served on the side, with butter and an herb dip, was tasty as well.

Here's my Villa Kennedy YouTube Video Review

Deluxe Garden View Room

Villa Kennedy has 127 guest rooms and 36 suites. Deluxe Rooms are 377 square feet, and I highly recommend selecting a Deluxe Garden View Room (these are even numbered) instead of a regular Deluxe Room that faces the street, so that you have a view of the Garden Courtyard and aren't subject to any street noise.

Beds are king size, and some of them can be made up as twin beds. Ours couldn't, but Housekeeping was able to provide us with separate duvets during turndown service.

The welcome amenity was simple, two fresh apples and an Italian hazelnut chocolate that was delicious. I did think that there should have been at least a couple chocolates provided, since we were two people.

The Deluxe Room bathroom has a bathtub with an alarming looking mosaic of a screaming Poseidon or other Greek god, which seemed a funny contrast to the rest of the soothing neutral tones of the room and bathroom. There was also a separate walk-in shower with Forte Organics bath products.

Other amenities included Acqua Panna and Pellegrino bottled water, and a Lavazza espresso machine.

After we came back from dinner that evening, my son was thrilled to see a milk and cookies turndown amenity for him. Even more than the mini Oreo cookies, he loved the dark chocolate covered grapes, which were very refreshing, given the warm summer weather.

Included in the buffet was the option to order a cooked to order dish, such as an omelet, eggs benedict, pancakes, french toast, etc.

Villa Kennedy Spa and Swimming Pool

The Villa Spa at Villa Kennedy is open 6:30am to 10pm, with spa treatments in the 8 treatment rooms available from 9am-9pm. The lap pool is 49 feet long, and there's also a jacuzzi at one end of it, and a door to an outside tranquil garden area where guests could read and relax. Although we didn't use them, there's also a Finnish sauna, steam room and gym.

The Verdict

Frankfurt is primarily a business destination, but Villa Kennedy, even with its proximity to the airport, made our brief layover seem like a vacation. We loved the beautiful garden courtyard, with its flowers and fountains, and I definitely recommend a Garden View Room for this reason. The kid's welcome letter, including a complimentary mocktail and cookies and milk turndown service, was a lovely touch, especially for a city hotel. We also enjoyed the swimming pool and jacuzzi.

Breakfast was top-notch, with a high quality buffet that included fresh berries, yogurt, smoked salmon, honeycomb, and pastries, plus the option to order a cooked to order egg dish, pancakes or french toast.

Highly recommended for a Frankfurt stay.
