Four Seasons Bangkok Hotel Review

The munchkin and I stayed one night at the Four Seasons Bangkok on the Club Floor, with access to the Executive Club Lounge. While Bangkok is certainly a great food city (see 7 Things to Eat in Bangkok) the munchkin isn't a fan yet of spicy food, plus he gets hungry frequently, so I figured paying a bit more to be in a Club Room with access to the Executive Club Lounge would be a good bet. I was right (even if the dishes the first evening appealed more to me).

Evening Hors d'Oeuvres, Executive Club Lounge, Four Seasons Bangkok

We arrived at the Four Seasons Bangkok Executive Club Lounge when it was serving its evening cocktail and hors d'oeuvres, and I was delighted that the appetizers were authentically Thai. Among my favorites were the shrimp on sugar cane, spicy beef, caramelized scallops, and fried banana blossoms with scallop salad.

Fortunately for the munchkin, not everything was spicy. He made a dinner of the shrimp on sugar cane, scallops, fresh fruit and mango with sticky rice.

The following evening, before our late night flight, we were again able to sample the evening appetizers. They were mostly Italian themed, and included asparagus wrapped in parma ham, house smoked salmon, stuffed grilled pork with sticky rice (one of the few Thai items of the evening) and our favorite, a delicious truffle cheese quesadilla.

The vanilla bean panna cotta with raspberry was also delicious.

Breakfast Buffet at Madison Restaurant

Continental breakfast is served in the Four Seasons Bangkok Executive Club Lounge, but the nice thing is that guests on the Club floor are also able to enjoy the full breakfast buffet at Madison Restaurant, which is more extensive. Here were our favorite items from the buffet:

1. Pastries with Jam

While I wouldn't have picked Bangkok or Thailand as necessarily a good place to have pastries, the munchkin and I both adored the apricot custard crumble pastry pictured below, with jam. There were also a number of other pastries and breads on offer, but we thought this one was the best:

2. Misoyaki Fish

I always enjoy misoyaki fish, so I was happy to see this on the buffet. It also wasn't available in the Executive Club Lounge, which has a smaller selection of items.

3. Eggs Cooked to Order with Crispy Bacon

While nothing extraordinary, the munchkin definitely enjoyed his cheesy scrambled eggs with crispy bacon and pretty much finished the plate on his own.

4. Dim Sum

While of course it couldn't compare to the exquisite dim sum I enjoyed at Tin Lung Heen in Hong Kong, I enjoy dim sum for breakfast, so was pleased to be able to enjoy dim sum as part of the Madison breakfast buffet.

5. Yogurt

Yogurt is my breakfast standby, and while the individual selections, mostly Danone, were not that impressive, the strawberry yogurt was good.

The Verdict: The Four Seasons Bangkok Executive Club Lounge offers the best of both worlds: the ability to take advantage of the extensive breakfast buffet at Madison Restaurant, and delectable evening hors d'oeuvres, which are substantial enough for a light dinner. I especially enjoyed the authentic and spicy Thai appetizers our first night, even though my son preferred the Italian themed appetizers the following evening.

Executive Club Lounge service was flawless, with friendly and attentive service, including fast and efficient help when I discovered that I'd inadvertently left our passports in our Club Room before checking out.
