Four Seasons Singapore Location and Check-In
The Four Seasons Singapore is on tree-lined Orchard Boulevard, a 3 minute walk to Orchard Road shopping and dining, 15 minute drive to Chinatown and Little India, and a 25 minute drive to Singapore Airport. Since our flight arrived in the early evening and we just wanted to get to the hotel as quickly as possible, we took a taxi, which, as usual in Singapore, was efficient (best. airport. taxi queue. ever.), clean and with a polite driver. Could we please import Singapore taxi drivers to all other cities?
We soon arrived at the Four Seasons Singapore, which has an unassuming entrance off of Orchard Boulevard. We were warmly welcomed and escorted through the lobby, with its beautiful spring flowers:
There was no wait to check in, and we were brought delicious welcome drinks:
Four Seasons Singapore Premier Room
Our Premier Room was spacious, at 624 square feet, even larger than the Lady Astor Room I'd previously stayed in at the St. Regis Singapore. It's a corner room, so the window curves around to let in great natural light. Here's the hotel's photo of the room, showing what it would look like without our addition of a kid's bed:
Premier Rooms offer either 1 King bed or 2 Twin beds; our room had a King bed, with a child's bed brought for the munchkin. I loved that the kid's bed wasn't too high–no need to worry about bed rails (which is actually a concern for us, given that the munchkin once suffered a broken collarbone from falling off a bed at night).
Of course, the first thing the munchkin spied was the tent set up just for him–he was thrilled! So far, I've only seen this at the Four Seasons Singapore and the Four Seasons Denver–they certainly know the way to a kid's heart.
My son also had a big smile upon seeing a special bear welcome cookie and juice for him:
And my husband tried his hand as a mixologist with our own welcome amenity, a Make Your Own Singapore Sling:
The marble bathroom featured dual vanities with his and hers sinks, always a plus in my book:
Bathroom amenities were L'Occitane, one of my favorites:
The bathtub had a cute crocodile non-slip mat for the munchkin:
Four Seasons Singapore Family Pool, Adult Quiet Pool, Tennis Courts and Fitness Center
One of the great features of the Four Seasons Singapore is an outdoor lap pool that essentially functions as a quiet pool for adults, on the third floor, and the rooftop family pool on the 20th floor, where kids can play freely without their parents worrying about annoying lap swimmers or couples who prefer a quieter pool ambience. Very few urban hotels have separate family and adult pools, so this is a huge benefit, in my view.
Even at the Family Pool, pool service was excellent. No sooner had we walked over to a couple of the sun loungers, than an attendant brought us ice water, towels and some delicious juice:
There's also a nice outdoor jacuzzi / whirlpool by the lap pool / quiet pool:
Also on the third floor is a fitness center, although we didn't have time to use it:
A unique feature are two air-conditioned tennis courts, in addition to 2 outdoor courts. There are fees, currently SGD 20 per hour for the outdoor courts and SGD 100 per hour for the indoor air conditioned courts for hotel guests.
There's also a lounge area on the third floor. There's no Executive Floor or Executive Club Lounge, so this lounge is open to all hotel guests, and a good place to enjoy some reading, catch up on work or have a quiet conversation. A pretty aquarium anchors the space, and there are also complimentary apples, cookies and refreshing drinks:
Four Seasons Singapore Dining and Food
I'll cover Four Seasons Singapore dining, including the breakfast buffet and dinner at One-Ninety, in a future post.
The Verdict
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Four Seasons Singapore, especially how kid-friendly it was, from the dedicated family pool to the kids' welcome amenities, tent and kids' menu. The hotel would be perfect for couples as well, with its adult quiet pool, tranquil third floor lounge (open to all guests), spa, tennis, and fitness facilities. Recommended, especially when booked with Four Seasons Partner benefits.
