Singapore Airlines Private Room Lounge Review

This Singapore Airlines Private Room lounge review is part of a trip report including Singapore Suites, Emirates First Class, Asiana First Class and luxury resorts and dining in Southeast Asia. For the previous posts, please see:

Access to Singapore Airlines' Private Room is only for departing Singapore Suites and Singapore First Class passengers–all other Star Alliance first class passengers and Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer elites who aren't traveling in Singapore Suites or first class are relegated to the First Class Lounge area of the SilverKris Lounge, which also has a business class lounge section.

This makes the Singapore Airlines Private Room similar in concept to British Airways Concorde Room in London Heathrow, which also is restricted to passengers actually flying British Airways First Class.

After disembarking from my Singapore Suites Frankfurt to Singapore flight, I made my way up the escalator to the SilverKris Lounge entrance:

There, I was politely greeted, and escorted past the Business and First Class lounges to the Private Room entrance:

The attendant escorted me in, and since I expressed interest in a shower, showed me to the left, where separate women's and men's bathrooms were, each containing shower rooms. At least in the women's bathroom, there were only 2 shower rooms. They weren't as spacious as those in, say, the Lufthansa Munich First Class Lounge, but they were a bit more elegant in appearance due to the marble, less harsh lighting, and orchid. Still, I wasn't that impressed with the nondescript wall-mounted shampoo and conditioner, or the provided toiletries.

The seating area of the Private Room offers more personal space and privacy. There are also a couple of actual private rooms, which I didn't use, but no sleeping rooms that I could see. I was offered a beverage, and chose a mixture of fresh squeezed grapefruit and orange juice that was tart and delicious:

I was also able to borrow an adapter, to recharge my laptop, which was much appreciated. Afterwards, I was invited to dine in the Dining Room, which I did, although note that there are no convenient electrical outlets there in case you need to charge your devices.

The breakfast menu included both Western and local Singaporean favorites:

Even though I was headed to Hong Kong and would be able to enjoy dim sum soon enough, I decided to try dim sum. It came piping hot, and was good, but not great.

I also took a look at the small buffet on offer. The fruits looked perfect:

There were also yogurts, and I chose a strawberry yogurt to round out my meal. It was good, but not nearly as good as the thick, creamy Moevenpick yogurt on my Singapore Suites flight. The staff in the Dining Room always kept my water glass filled, and were attentive without being intrusive, akin to top notch service in a fine restaurant.

The Verdict: The Singapore Airlines Private Room isn't huge, but it does offer a much more tranquil environment than the bustling First Class and Business Class lounges, and service is incredibly attentitve. Even though it lacks what I consider some key first class lounge amenities, such as sleeping rooms and a spa with complimentary massage treatments, the tranquility and service level of the lounge when I was there is the best I've experienced to date.
