Four Seasons Bangkok Location, Lobby and Check-In
The Four Seasons Bangkok is located centrally, on Rajadamri Road, and many rooms and suites have views of the Royal Bangkok Sports Club across from the hotel.
If traveling lightly, with little luggage, it's easy to get to the Four Seasons Bangkok from Bangkok Airport using public transit, by taking the Airport Link express train to Makkasan Station, then transferring to the BTS Phaya Thai Station and going 4 stations from to BTS Ratchadamri Station, with a transfer at Siam Station.
Four Seasons Bangkok Executive Club Level Room
We opted to stay in an Executive Club Level Room, as it's usually more convenient when traveling with the seemingly always hungry munchkin to be able to enjoy a quick meal or snack that we can help ourselves to, rather than ordering and waiting for a meal to be served.
The Four Seasons Bangkok has a very Thai feel about it, similar in some ways to The Peninsula Bangkok. Rooms are elegantly appointed, with teak furnishings, rich Thai silks, and Thai paintings.
Our two double beds were pushed together, which I was actually happy about, since it helped minimize the chance the munchkin would fall off the bed (something I'm not keen to repeat, since on one occasion he broke his collarbone from falling off the bed–yes, it can happen).
We enjoyed our view of the Royal Bangkok Sports Club Golf Course–it's nice to see all that green in the midst of an otherwise very busy and built up city.
A perfectly ripe mango served as a welcome fruit amenity, and the munchkin very much enjoyed it the next day, before we checked out of our room.
A large flat screen was opposite the bed, perfect for watching the news or a movie from bed, although we didn't use it.
The bathroom just had one vanity, but did have a separate soaking tub and glass enclosed shower, along with L'Occitane bath amenities.
Four Seasons Bangkok Pool and Fitness Center
A highlight for the munchkin was the pool, which, while less modern than the one at the St. Regis Bangkok, is a lot more practical for actually swimming in. It was also big enough that kids could splash around in one section without interfering with a lone lap swimmer or couples.
While I didn't have occasion to use it, the Fitness Center appeared well equipped and not overly crowded mid-morning.
The Four Seasons Bangkok also offers a squash court, great for burning those calories!
A Kid Favorite: Feed the Carp
If you've brought a young kid or two along, not only can they admire the beautiful carp swimming languidly in the pools near Madison Restaurant–they can request special carp fish food, and feed them. My son hasn't had this much fun feeding carp since The Four Seasons Bali at Jimbaran Bay, where he was also invited to feed the fish.
Four Seasons Bangkok Executive Club and Breakfast
I'll discuss the Executive Club complimentary food and beverage presentations in a separate post, as well as the buffet breakfast (since Executive Level guests have the option of either taking breakfast in the Executive Club Lounge or at Madison Restaurant, which offers an extensive breakfast buffet daily.
The Verdict
The Four Seasons Bangkok is an ideal Bangkok base if you want to be more centrally located than The Peninsula Bangkok or the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok, and value highly professional, friendly service. The last time I was in this area, I stayed at The St. Regis Bangkok, which has a nice modern hard product but service was really lacking. So I was relieved to find that the Four Seasons Bangkok service is superb, especially in the Executive Club Lounge, which I highly recommend. I even inadvertently left our passports in our room when checking out, only realizing it hours later, as we were getting ready to leave for the airport, and our passports had been carefully retrieved, sealed in plastic, and were returned to us. What could have been an ordeal was a non-event, thanks to Four Seasons attention to detail and service.
Have you enjoyed a stay at the Four Seasons Bangkok?
Disclosure: I paid for my own stay at the Four Seasons Bangkok, using a travel professional rate.
