Vaccination Passports Have Been Touted as the Way to Reopen Travel, But the Window for Using Them May Be Short. Why? Data is still being collected on how long the currently approved vaccines provide immunity, and as a result, some countries are only relaxing their entry restrictions for vaccinated travelers for a few months post-vaccination. For example:
Thailand: Within 3 Months Post-Vaccination
Thailand currently imposes a 14-day quarantine on all foreign travelers. Those who have proof of vaccination not more than 3 months and not less than 14 days prior to arrival in Thailand can have the quarantine shortened to 7 days (although this does not apply to travelers from South Africa, who are still subject to the full 14 day quarantine).
.
Estonia: Within 6 Months Post-Vaccination
Estonia is currently only open to EU/EEA countries and third countries that the European Union has approved on its Annex 1 countries. As of 3/10/21, these include Australia, New Zealand, Rwanda, Singapore, South Korea and Thailand.
For those eligible to enter, COVID-19 vaccination within the 6 months prior to entry provides exemption from the usual 10-day required self-isolation.
.
Romania: Within 90 Days Post-Vaccination
Romania requires arrivals who seek exemption from quarantine to have been vaccinated no less than 14 days prior to arrival and no more than 90 days before arrival.
.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has noted that individuals that were fully vaccinated at least 14 days ago and less than 3 months ago, with no COVID-19 symptoms, do not need to quarantine or be tested after exposure to someone with COVID-19, as the risk of infection is low. That said, since it’s not known how long protection lasts, those who had their last shot three months ago or more should quarantine if they are exposed.

I am fully vaccinated as of several days ago, but I’m afraid I’ll still need to show a negative Covid test result when I go to Hawaii next month. Luckily it seems that results are returned more quickly these days.
Peggy, that’s wonderful that you’re fully vaccinated! Yes, if your trip is in April 2021, you’ll still need a negative COVID-19 test result from one of Hawaii’s travel partners in order to bypass the 10 day quarantine. It will be May at the earliest, possibly later, when vaccinated travelers are able to be exempt from COVID-19 testing.
