Singapore Airlines: New First Class and New Business Class to Be on All 777-300ERs

Singapore Airlines: New First Class and New Business Class on All 777-300ERs

Singapore Airlines' New First Class and New Business Class will be installed on ALL 777-300ER planes, with retrofitting work starting early 2015 and expected completion by September 2016.

This is good news, since when Singapore's New First Class and New Business Class products were introduced in September 2013, there was no word on whether Singapore Airlines would retrofit its existing 777-300ERs with the new products.

Singapore Airlines New First Class

Singapore's new first class is sleeker and more comfortable than its older first class product. Key features:

  • Outer wall extended and curved for added privacy
  • More comfortable padded seat
  • More seat recline
  • When made into a bed, bed is 82 inches (6 feet 10 inches) in length
  • Additional mattress topper for more comfort
  • More seat light settings
  • 24 inch LCD with HD resolution

Singapore Airlines New Business Class

Singapore Business Class hasn't changed enormously, but Singapore's new business class has added more storage compartments, although at the slight expense of the seat width, although most guests won't notice, since at 28 inches wide it's still the widest fully flat business class bed.

  • Greater recline in seat mode
  • More ergonomic seat cushion
  • Two new seating positions added: “Lazy Z” and “Sundeck”
  • More storage space, including an amenity stowage area and laptop stowage area
  • When made into a bed, 78 inches in length

Note that Singapore's Business Class isn't as private, as, say, Cathay Pacific Business Class which has a reverse herringbone design that angles you away from the aisle. But it's quite narrow and some feel a bit claustrophobic in it, and for them, Singapore's New Business Class (and even current Business Class) feels (and is) more spacious, albeit at the expense of privacy.
