The Ritz-Carlton Fukuoka will open on June 21, 2023 as the 6th Ritz-Carlton hotel in Japan, after the Ritz-Carlton Osaka, the Ritz-Carlton Tokyo, and hotels in Okinawa, Kyoto, and Nikko.
Ritz-Carlton Fukuoka Location
The new hotel is located in the main tower of Fukuoka Daimyo Garden City, at 2-6-50 Daimyo, Chuo-ku in Fukuoka, on the island of Kyushu in southern Japan. Fukuoka is Japan's sixth largest city, a dynamic blend of business and entrepreneurial activity, shopping, nightlife, and easy access to parks and beaches. The Ritz-Carlton Fukuoka will be a 17 minute drive from Fukuoka Airport (FUK), which is well connected to other Japanese cities and to Asian hubs such as Bangkok, Hanoi, Hong Kong, Manila, Seoul, Singapore, Taipei, and even Honolulu via Hawaiian Airlines (as of 4/30/23). The hotel is a 12 minute drive from Hakata Station. Shinkansen bullet trains connect Fukuoka to Tokyo within 5 hours.
The hotel's tower is next to a new 32,000 sq. ft. park created for outdoor events, and is part of the Tenjin district, an area already popular for evening strolls, street music, and friendly street stalls serving up the city's famous tonkotsu ramen and other local specialties.
Ritz-Carlton Fukuoka Rooms and Amenities
The new hotel will offer 147 guest rooms and 20 suites in the main tower's 19th to 23rd floors. Entry-level rooms will be a generous 538 sq. ft. (50 sq. m.) The 24th floor will host the Club Lounge, Spa, fitness center, and pool, as well as a bar with a superb view of Hakata Bay. Interior design is by Layan Architects + Designers of Melbourne, Australia, with flooring and lighting fixtures reflecting local design inspiration from Hakata-ori, the yarn-dyed weaving tradition of Fukuoka. A three-dimensional piece of wall art in the first-floor arrivals lobby, for example, is rendered of thousands of pattern-dyed threads, while the carpet takes inspiration from the look and texture of Hakata-ori textiles.
The hotel's signature Japanese restaurant will serve kaiseki tasting menus as well as teppanyaki and sushi, while an all-day dining restaurant will offer international fare. The Lobby Lounge and Lobby Bar will serve cocktails and light refreshments.
