It may seem strange, but Tokyo has some of the best pizza outside of Italy. Our teen still regularly raves about the pizza at the Pizza Bar on 38th at the Mandarin Oriental Tokyo, although sadly, it's not only become harder to reserve, it also only offers an omakase menu with fixed tastings. Since we wanted to choose our own pizzas, we decided to try Pizzeria da Peppe Sta' Ca” in Kamiyacho. It was opened in 2011 by Peppe Errichiello, who hails from Naples, Italy, and has been making pizzas professionally since he was twelve years old.

Pizzeria da Peppe Sta' Ca” Tokyo Location and Hours
Pizzeria da Peppe is located at 1-11-4 Azabudai Inner Trip Building 1F (Minato City, Azabudai, 1 Chome−11−4 いんなあとりっぷビル 1F). It's open Wednesday-Sunday for lunch from 11:30am-2pm, and for dinner 6-9:30pm (until 10 pm on Fridays and Saturdays). We highly recommend making an advance reservation for dinner. When we arrived a few minutes before our 6pm reservation, there was already a line outside the restaurant.

We were able to request one of the four outdoor tables, which we appreciated.

Pizzeria da Peppe Sta' Ca” Menu and Food
While there are some appetizers and other dishes offered, we recommend sticking with the pizzas:
.
Along with the bottled water we ordered, we were brought some plain focaccia, although there wasn't any olive oil or balsamic for dipping.
.
My son was drawn to la magia della cipolla (onion magic) pizza because of its smoked mozzarella. It married well with the onion cream, pickled onion, and yellow tomatoes, although we both wished for a bit more filling to crust ratio.
.
I ordered the simple Margherita with San Marzano tomatoes, mozzarella, grana hard cheese, and basil. Once again, a wonderful balance of flavors in the filling, but I would have preferred less crust at the edge.
.
The Verdict
We're glad we tried Pizzera da Peppe Napoli Sta' Ca” in Tokyo, and would happily try other pizzas given the tempting combinations on the menu. That said, we preferred the pizzas at Pizza Bar on 38th at the Mandarin Oriental Tokyo, which remains our favorite in Tokyo, followed by the pizza at Pigneto at the Four Seasons Tokyo at Otemachi.
