What’s the first thing you do when you enter your hotel room? For me, after quickly taking in the room, it’s looking out the window to see if there’s a great view. I’ll almost always request a high floor, and specifically ask at the front desk for a room with a nice view. Well, unless I’m recovering from jet lag—then a quiet, dark interior room is just fine!
Some of the best views I’ve gotten:
View of Waikiki Beach and Diamond Head from a top-floor Suite at the Moana Surfrider, thanks to an SPG Platinum upgrade:
Ocean view from a Club Room at the Ritz-Carlton Bali Jimbaran Bay (now the Ayana Resort and Spa Bali)
Ocean View from Four Seasons Wailea, Maui
View of the Kremlin from the Ritz-Carlton Moscow, Club Level
Ironically, since I live in New York, I’ve never had a hotel room with a view of Central Park. I’ve always wanted to though, since in my opinion that’s one of the nicest views in New York, so that’s what we’re giving away: a 1-night stay at a 5-Star Hotel suite with a view of Central Park! I can’t promise which one it will be—the Ritz-Carlton Central Park, the Trump International, the Plaza, etc.—but it will be a suite with a fantastic view of Central Park.
We’ll also be giving away some TravelSort hotel credits to use at any TravelSort hotel you choose.
How to Enter:
You can enter up to twice daily, once via Twitter and once via Facebook:
1. Follow TravelSort on Twitter, then tweet this (do not put @travelsort in front of it, otherwise it won't count, sorry!):
I want to win a stay in a 5-star hotel suite from @TravelSort http://bit.ly/pPNasY #HotelWithaView
2. Like TravelSort on Facebook, then upload a photo of a favorite view from a hotel room, or describe it on TravelSort’s Wall. Feel free to share a different photo/description each day if you do a daily entry.
The contest will run from September 19-September 30, 11:59pm ET, and we’ll choose the winner (and runners-up, for TravelSort credits) at random on October 1. The more entries you have (keeping in mind the twice daily limit) the better your chance of winning.
We’ll be blogging about the winner, so if you win you’ll need to sign a release and be willing to be featured on the TravelSort blog.
If you’d rather write about the worst hotel view you’ve had, we’d love to hear your horror tweets as well! We have a few gag gifts for the funniest ones…just use the hastag #ViewfromHell when you tweet.
