The Nautilus Maldives Location and Getting There
The Nautilus Maldives is in the Baa Atoll, Maldives, a seaplane flight from Male Airport (MLE), Maldives. Most of our U.S. clients fly to MLE on Emirates via Dubai DXB, Etihad via Abu Dhabi AUH, or Qatar via Doha DOH, although some fly Singapore Airlines via Singapore SIN. The Nautilus Maldives is the only Maldivian luxury resort we're aware of that includes complimentary fast track service on arrival. It was delightful to be met right on the tarmac, and instead of waiting in line for immigration, I was whisked away to the CIP/VIP lounge, where the staff took my passport to complete the immigration and customs formalities, while I rehydrated with a drink. Next I was taken by Nautilus staff in a Nautilus sedan to the Nautilus Lounge to await the arrival of the Nautilus seaplane.

The seaplane flight is 30-35 minutes and arrives at a pontoon that's a 5 minute speedboat ride from the resort.

The Nautilus Maldives Ocean House Water Villa and The Retreat Two Bedroom Water Villa
We were in one of the resort's 17 houses, which include both Beach Houses and Ocean Houses; we were in an Ocean House. Ocean Houses are 3035 sq. ft. (282 sq. m.) of indoor and outdoor space. Indoors, you enter into the living room, where there's a circular glass window with a view of the ocean beneath. At night, it can be illuminated, attracting fish (see our video below).

The Verdict
The Nautilus Maldives reminds us of our visits to the best Aman Resorts some years ago, before our favorite Aman General Managers left to go to Six Senses, Capella Hotels & Resorts and others. With just 26 accommodations each with its own private infinity pool, even when the resort is practically full, it doesn't feel that way. While the style is more contemporary Maldivian chic than the soaring modern look of Cheval Blanc Randheli, and the island is smaller than the larger resort islands, we loved the unique aspects this boutique luxury resort offered, from including a VIP fast track arrival for all guests to allowing complimentary breakfast to be had at any time of day, and for that matter, being able to have a massage any time of day or night too. Truly a special place.
