Maldives, Singapore Reduce Covid Travel Restrictions

.

The Maldives and Singapore are Reducing Covid Travel Restrictions; in the case of the Maldives, getting rid of them altogether. They join Canada, Italy, France, Hawaii, Ireland, Iceland, and other countries in reducing COVID-19 restrictions for visitors.

Maldives

As of March 14, 2022, no pre-flight COVID-19 test or post-arrival test is needed to travel to the Maldives, and no proof of vaccination is needed for entry. Face masks are still highly recommended while in crowded areas, and a face mask is still mandatory in all health facilities and in outbreak areas. See our recent posts, Qatar QSuites Business Class Award Space to the Maldives and Book Qatar Airways Awards with Fewer British Airways Avios for tips on booking Qatar QSuites to the Maldives; Etihad via Abu Dhabi, Emirates via Dubai, and Singapore Airlines via Singapore are other ways of getting to the Maldives. The Maldives has an abundance of true luxury resort options; our favorites are Cheval Blanc Randheli, Velaa Private Island, and Four Seasons Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru, all of which we reserve for clients with Virtuoso or Four Seasons Preferred Partner benefits.

Singapore

Singapore hasn't yet eliminated pre-departure COVID-19 testing (travelers must still have a negative result from a PCR or rapid antigen test administered by a trained health professional taken in the 2 days prior to departing for Singapore), but as of April 1, 2022, under the new Vaccinated Travel Framework, Singapore will eliminate the requirement to arrive via a vaccinated travel lane (VTL) flight. That eliminates the hassle of applying for a vaccinated travel pass.

All vaccinated arrivals who test negative before entering Singapore won't need to quarantine or take a COVID-19 test on arrival or any subsequent covid tests during their stay (except for testing required to return to their home country or their next destination country). Children age 12 and younger are exempt from the vaccination requirement, and most all vaccination certificates (even if not able to be digitally verified) will be accepted, which was a headache for some U.S. travelers, depending on where they were vaccinated.

Singapore Suites or Singapore Business Class is our favorite way of getting to Singapore, and once there, we recommend staying at the Fullerton Bay Hotel Singapore.
