Some Luxury Hotels Have Been Renovating during the coronavirus, using a pandemic induced closure to improve and freshen the resort or rooms for guests, often also making needed adjustments required for easier social distancing and increased outdoor seating and dining. Here are some of the key luxury hotels that have renovated during or just prior to the pandemic (listed in alphabetical order):
1. COMO Cocoa Island, Maldives
COMO Cocoa Island renovated in 2019, but is currently closed, reopening September 1, 2020. As a result, guests in early September will experience an entirely refreshed resort. Each of the 34 villas is an overwater villa, and all have been wholly renovated by Singapore-based Lekkar Architects. Post-renovation, two types of villas now have private pools: the One Bedroom Water Villa with Pool and Cocoa Water Villa with Pool.
Other enhancements include two couples spa suites, a new Pilates studio, and updated hydrotherapy pool.
COMO is known for its wellness focus, and in addition to its fitness, yoga and spa programs, guests can enjoy COMO Shambhala Cuisine on all the resort menus, with vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, nutritionally rich options.
